A complete game for only $3.00???
By Mike DeZarn
Tired of paying $19.95 for a game only to find that you need $49.94 worth of attachments and up-grades just to play. Would you rather have a game that costs $3.00 to $4.00 with no additional costs? A game enjoyable enough that you want to play for hours on end. If this interests you at all, then Cheapass Games is exactly what you've been looking for.
Cheapass Games has a large assortment of games in a very affordable price range that will provide hours of fun for you and your friends. Because Cheapass Games include only the basic parts of the game needed to play - the cards, the rules and maybe a board that you put together - they are able to offer their games at a substantially reduced cost. All you need to do is provide the dice, or perhaps, the playing cards. So, rummage through the floors of your closets or those miscellaneous drawers where you put things that don't have a place, and come up with those cards or dice and you're now ready to begin playing.
One of my favorite Cheapass games is The Great Brain Robbery, the third installment of the Friedy's Restaurant line of zombie mayhem. In GBR you are a zombie on a train loaded with tasty passengers. The object of the game is to find the best brain, slap it in your noggin and keep it till the train stops (mmm…brains is good food). Sounds easy, but remember, other players are after the best brain too, so they will attack you and take away your brain leaving you with an IQ lower than your shoe size (for some, that may be a step up!)
Lots of other fun games are available from Cheapass Games. Here are just a few:
- Kill Doctor Lucky - you and the other players race to see who gets to off the good Doctor, but they don't call him Lucky for nothing.
- Deadwood - you play a B-movie actor trying to make a living playing bit parts in spaghetti westerns.
- Renfield - you play a gravedigger trying to make a living getting bit parts (of who we won't say) and bugs…hey, these taste like chicken.
- Falling! - real-time card game where all the players are falling off a skyscraper and the winner is the person that hits the ground last.
- Devil Bunny Needs A Ham - This game is as strange as it's name. You play a sous-chef trying to be the first to make it to the top of a large building. Easy enough you say, except for Devil Bunny trying to knock you off so that he can get a ham. How could he get a ham from doing this? Only Devil Bunny knows and he isn't telling.
In addition to the games mentioned so far, Cheapass Games also make Spree: Hong Kong Edition, The Big Idea, Save Doctor Lucky, Lord of the Fries, Give Me the Brain and lots more. All of these games cost about the same as a movie rental, but can be played over and over again. Great games, even greater prices….
