Superman Quick-Start Kit (DC Heroclix)

Let''s just say it: learning Heroclix is hard. Hard to explain, even harder to learn when you''re on your own or learning with a friend. The quick-start concept is something Wizkids should have introduced a long time ago--two evenly matched figures, one hero, one villain, a miniature map to help learn terrain and movement, cleaned up rules... everything you need to actually practice the game, try out different powers and tactics, and learn what all those colored dials mean. For the price you really can''t do any better than this. I bumped a star off because the reuses sculpts are pretty weak (nothing against reused sculpts, particularly for this concept, but this Superman and Luthor are not going to dazzle a first time player, unlike the Batman/Arkham quick-start which has gorgeous sculpts of Batman and Joker in the Arkham Asylum style) and also because the clix are designed to not function in normal play. I see the logic in making teaching-style heroclix not meant for regular use, but it would have been nice for them to be playable outside a quick-start game without bending the "purple ring" rules. That being said, if you''re looking for a way to introduce a new player to the game, particularly someone who might find the rules daunting, this Quick-Start or its Batman counterpart is a great gateway.
