What's nice is that the prevention effect triggers whether or not counters exist; if you pump his toughness (equipment, auras, Glorious Anthem, etc.) then damage will never kill him. Of course, that's true with any of these phantom-style creatures (and made even more awesome with Sekki). This is in my EDH deck as a Reveillark target.

This is an amazing card but there are a few better cards for animator (Hellkite Overlord and Akroma). Also right of passage wouldnt work but mephidross vampire would.

crazy good card, especially when paired with whispersilk cloak or ferocity. rite of passage won't work with this card because this card prevents all damage that will be dealt to it, so the ability of putting on a counter when damage is dealt would never trigger.

Good card. You can keep it in play as a 6/6 and prevent damage as well which is very useful. another 5 stars for this card

put Sadistic Glee, then use hex. +7/+7. this card is cool. I always have one in a deck. the mana cost os high, bu in my black deck, I just discard it, then use Victimize to get it and Vampiric Dragon out.

*perfect* for any reanimation card that requires life (e.g. death part of life//death) and an Uber spirit that fits in a grean & white spirit craft deck (see Bounteous Kirin).

I totally agree! Plus, it has trample and isn't a Legend. This guy makes you want to build a deck, just so you can put him in it. AWESOME CREATURE!

this is a key creature in my reanimator deck and should be everyone! 7/7 for that doesn't die from damage + you gain life for each damage it deals, even to creatures BUY THIS CARD!
