One of the most versitile 1CMC creatures in Magic. Early game you can Holy Strength him then start picking off all your opponents mana excel, tool box creatures, or early beef; like Llanawar Elves, Birds of Paradise, Konda, Hound of Isamaru, Qasali Pridemage, or Tarmagoyf before he gets out of hand. Then in metagame he is the ultimate blocker short of Fog Bank that can negate huge tramplers or simple vanilla beefcakes

What's not to love about a cheap, first-turn, proboke creature? On top of that, he has the ability to nullify damage delt to and by him. He's a great blocker. Plus, if you slap a duce Venom on him, you make him an instant killer. No need to deal damage with Venom, and he can provoke whoever you want! Just think, a little old Deftblade Elite with Venom can take down a Krosean Cloudscaper (a.k.a. Mr. Beast).
