When I started looking for a cool introduction to Ravenloft for a new campaign using the Pathfinder rules set, I'd already decided on reusing old AD&D Ravenloft materials. This was partially for financial concerns, and partially because I just loved the old Ravenloft boxed set. This module caught my eye, and I started looking at how to integrate it into my story. First, I wanted to do something that wasn't the standard Vampires and Liches and Lychans, oh my! This fits the bill well. The primary bad guys are pseudo-resurrected assassins and a Necromancer, and some rather thuggish town guards. Second, I wanted creepy, and this module fits the bill here as well. From the brutally tortured, diseased populace to the cold, isolated environment, I felt this story a fitting introduction to the vileness of Ravenloft. Fitting the NPCs to the Pathfinder rules set was relatively easy, and I found several places to insert Sanity checks from the optional Unearthed Arcana rules. Can't wait to get started!
