Warhammer Quest is one of Games Workshops most popular games now sadly out of print. In this tabletop game you play the part of a group of adventures traveling into dangerous dungeons and catacombs. The party seeks treasure in the form of treasure cards which are gained as a reward for completing a particular quest. Encountering random monsters along the way. The game has an innovative system of a series of cards which represent the dungeon. The cards have corresponding floorplans which are attached together with plastic doorways. So you build the dungeon as you go, only seeing into the next corridor or room. This game comes with over 90 plastic miniatures designed by Games Workshop. You start with a wizard, a barbarian, an elf and a dwarf as your heroes. They also had 9 other additional characters you could buy as expansions. The monsters consist of orcs, goblins, giant spiders, giant bats, giant rats, snotlings (tiny goblinoids), minotaurs, and skaven (ratmen). What really makes this game cool though is the enormous bestiary which allows you to use just about any fantasy miniature out there. So the sky is the limit. Finding a complete set is very rare. But the rewards are well worth it. If you enjoy fantasy gaming with some role-playing this is a great game. This game is designed for 1-4 players with another person acting as the gamemaster or can even be played solo. The adventure book has plenty of ideas for quests and others can be found in back issues of White Dwarf, Games Workshop fantasy magazine. -- By Roy Gater from Anaheim, CA USA on March 13, 2006 |
