Avalanche: The Salerno Landings is a tactical simulation of the nine day battle for the beachhead at Salerno, Italy in September of 1943. the Allied commander will attempt to get ashore and stay ashore. The German commander has only until the 17th of September to do so, as by then the British 8th Army, driving up from the toe of Italy, will arrive and force him to withdraw.
Components
1. Two maps showing the area over which the battle was fought. A hexagonal grid has been superimposed to regulate movement and placement of the playing pieces, much like the squares of a chess or checker board. Each hex covers a scale distance of 1300 yards from side to side.
2. Four sheets of unit counters. Each of these represents a military unit which did fight or could have fought in Salerno.
3. One set of charts consisting of:

One German Initial Order of Battle (OB) / Order of Appearance (OA)
