SIMIC MUTOLOGY
The twisted biologists of the Simic guild have taken nature into their own hands . . . and warped it beyond belief. Their experiments, especially those with the graft mechanic, have produced creations freakier than any Ravnica has ever seen before. |

Having this been my second theme deck from whence I returned from a break from MTG for 2 years (my first deck being the Charge of the Boros Ravnica theme deck), I was impressed to see this new ability being used. Green has always been a "timmy" (big creature) type color and with this graft ability, it makes it all better. It took me about 2 weeks to truly be able to tweak and play the deck to its fullest potential however. I would recommend some Cytoplast Root-Kin, Sporeback Trolls, and Aquastrand Spiders to make this deck good; also, a gigantic Simic Sky Swallower is killer in this deck. I was very impressed with the rares in this deck, Protein Hulk and Experment Kraj, with these two creatures having and excellent power/toughness and sweet abilities. I was thinking of sticking in some Wurmskin Coils from Guildpact to make some more powerful creatures, maybe you should too. To play this deck, you should really concentrate on playing lands every turn as to summon some big ones and make sure you play the Vigean Hydropon within the 2 to 3 turn so you boost up all of your creatures. Lay some small creatures to block in the early game and by mid-game, you should have a huge army of grafters to lay on an oh-so-sweet deadly assault. If your opponent is playing an aggro deck with a lot of small creatures, be wary of the early game as you can be killed quickly if you don't pull enough creatures early on. Another problem with this deck is the abscence of flyers (throw in some Aquastrand Spiders so your creatures with +1/+1 counters can block flyers), the flyers can lay a beat down on you without some sort of protection. I would recommend this deck to mid-level beginners players such as myself. By and by, I am moving on with this deck and going to a spell-centered deck (Izzet Gizmometry) to try out the other side of MTG (spells). Try to work with all types of decks when learning! -- By Sebastián from USA on May 30, 2006 |

yeah, simic mutology is good. and experiment kraj....!!! nice. being able to put one-one counters on each creature that comes into play and then stealing their abilities is pretty cool. grafting beats the hell out of hellbent. -- By Garrett from Kansas on July 29, 2006 |

i agree with sebastian
mutology is MAD!
add a cupl of cytospawn shamblrs, sporebak trols and a cupl of xtra helium squirtes 4 gud mesure
combo kraj's ability with vigean graftmages' and u can put tonnes of +1/+1 counters (permanantly too!) on any number of creatures in play at the end of ur opponents turn
main weeknes is lak of counterspells and destroy artifact/enchantment sort of cards
recomend voidslime if u can
momir vig is a must so u can draw out all ur grafters earli(er)
also guildmage combos wel with shielding plax and the like by moving it onto a targeted creatuer once the spel is put on the stak, for 2 mana
also if ur kraj gets lumped with pacifism, or plumes of peace or something u can just mov it onto a vigean hydropon insted lol!
cytoplast manipulatr and sky-swallower are pretty cool: u can still initially graft onto the skyswaallloer wen it comes into play even tho its untargetabl!
if u can get "Doubling Season" out 4 5 mana...
:"if an effect would put one or more tokens into play under your control, it puts twice as many into play instead." &
:"if an effect would place one or more counters on a permanent you control, it places twice that many on that permanent instead."
BOOYAA!
and if u havnt cort mi drift alrede...
all grafters cum in2 play twice as big and wen u graft u remove 1 +1/+1 counter off your grafter and place 2 +1/+1 counters on your graftee!
and if u hav guildmage in play it duznt even hav 2 b wen a creature initially cums out!
