Make the best of all possible worlds

Want to create an entire world in under five minutes? Welcome to FT Pro. Want to export that world as an image, animation, icosahedral, VRML, or CC2 Pro file? Welcome to FT Pro. Want to generate maps from real world Earth data? Welcome to FT.

Worlds can take so long to map. Coming up with a reasonable world in the midst of a sci-fi gaming session involves either drawing upon generic stock, or risking the inaccurate. Drawing realistic global maps can take hours - days even. Not any more.

For the fastest world generation, simply click the Next World icon. A fractal-filled moment later, FT Pro delivers you an entire world - complete with climate, rainfall and temperature zones. Not the the world you imagined? No problem, just click the icon again, and again, and again.

But with FT Pro you can be even more God-like. Starting from a random world, real-Earth data, or a flat plain if you prefer, you can "paint" altitude or climate adjustments to suit your whim. You can raise mountains from nothing and consign entire continents to the deep. FT Pro's fractal calculations apply your changes with deft realism, requiring minimum artistic skill from you.

If that's not enough, you can get right into the FT's world generation settings to adjust coloration, percentage water, land sizes, maximum and minimum heights, world circumference, axis inclination, roughness, and more.

You have complete control over your view of the world. You can rotate to any point and zoom in to any level of detail. FT can display the world in any of 13 map projections, including Mercator, Gnomonic, Mollweide and Orthographic. To help navigation you can apply a grid to the surface, with lines of longitude and latitude spaced to your preference.

FT Pro works stand-alone, or as an add-on to CC2. If you've got CC2, you can export a single map of your whole creation, or multiple map tiles of increasing detail. The maps are linked with clickable hotspots, allowing you to create an in depth atlas-style in one fell stroke.

The power to shape worlds will be in your hands

New in FT Pro
  • FT Pro is compatible with NBOS AstrosynthesisTM software - click on a link in AstrosynthesisTM and pull up a customised FT Pro world
  • Automatically generate river networks.
  • Import maps with color to altitidue conversion, allowing traditional maps to be converted to FT Pro 3D relief.
  • World-crafting. Start from a flat plain and use height tools to form the terrain. Alternatively paint the climate and FT Pro will construct the terrain to match.
  • New editing tools include smooth, roughen, deterrace, fill basin, raise, lower, mound, build mountains and noise.
  • Use overlays from multiple images, with optional transparency, to add detail such as clouds.
  • New conic and interrupted projections, and the power to define your own.
  • Add craters, or institute a planetary bombardment.
  • Scripting language to automate complex and repetitive tasks.
  • Improved dialog boxes to give easier customization of contour colors, grid settings, export options, world creation parameters and editing values.

  • System Requirements
  • Fractal Terrains Pro does not require CC2 Pro
  • Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT4/XP or higher
  • 32 MB RAM
  • 15 MB hard disk space Register your ProFantasy software at http://www.profantasy.com/service/entrance.asp and download the complete PDF manual for all our software.

** Fractal Terrains Pro is like that Corvette with a cracked engine block. Sure, it looks pretty but you have no actual control over it. This program, and a rather pricey one at that, gives you no ACTUAL control. You cannot shape continents, craft archipelagos, or even alter the contours of an island. No, instead you roll the proverbial dice and see what the program spits out in the form of fractals and color shading. And if you don't like what you see, then you roll the dice again. Many worlds it spits out seem to have all landmasses connected together, with no real diversity in terms of continents that you'd find on say...Earth. Some of the features it advertises are actually misleading. Astrosynthesis support is spotty at best, clouds is really just a graphical overlay of NASA scans (No real ability to generate clouds unique to the climatology of your world) and the river network is just visually unappealing. If you just want some random world spit out, but don't really care how it looks, basing the results on random, barely explained numbers then get this program. But if you actually want to BE a God, with all the creative powers thereof, with an actual SAY in what the world is you make..then don't get this program. Fractal Terrains Pro takes an atheist approach to God-like.
