Henderson Field
Henderson Field is a two-player game recreating the epic struggle for Guadalcanal Island. The game simulates the fighting during the decisive months of September through November 1942. Three scenarios are provided, including a 26 turn campaign game. Units include infantry, tanks, LVTs, artillery, anti-tank, engineers, and anti-aircraft. Meticulously researched and well developed, the game features the most accurate Japanese Order of Battle to appear in a Guadalcanal game.
GAME FEATURES: Unit proficiency, aircraft, unit disruption, banzai attacks attrition, sea moves, and bombardments. Optional rules provide additional realism such Fog of War, and Japanese ammunition limitations. An optional rule also allows players to explore what might have happened if the Japanese 38th Division had landed in mid-November. Each hex represents 1000 yards, each turn 3 1/2 days units are regiments, battalions, and companies.
Contents: 2 rule books, 2 full-color maps, charts and tables, 500 die-cut counters. Two six-sided dice are also needed to play this game.
LONG LANCE
Long Lance is a two-player game simulating the vicious naval engagements off Quadalcanal Island in 1942. Scenarios include Savo Island, Lunga Point, Cape Esperence, First and Second Quadalcanal, and Tassafaronga Point. Individual battleships, cruisers, and destroyers are included such as USS Washington, IJN Kirishima, USS Helena, IJN Aoba, and USS San Francisco.
GAME FEATURES: Long Lance uses a refinement of the popular Salvo! system, and features the Japanese "Long Lance" torpedo, unit readiness, Japanese night optics, U.S. Radar, and Initiative. An optional rule allows players to explore special damage effects such as jammed rudders, bridge hits, and power failures. Each game-turn represents 5 minutes of real time, each hex equal 1,000 yards.
Campaign game rules are provided which allow players to link games together to recreate the whole Quadalcanal campaign with extraordinary realism. |
