The players go on hunts to collect buffalo and other appropriate items on their way to a victory, if they allocate their hunters better than the others.

Big Manitou from Rio Grande Games is a reprint of the game by Günther Burkhardt. This is playable for 2 to 5 players. The cards for 3 "hunts" are laid out; stakes for the hunt (Victory Points) depend on what's being hunted. The players create a mini-deck of cards they will play with, then distribute these cards per hunt, in turn order. If Great Warrior cards are played in a hunt where another Warrior is present, they have a trial of strength. Other twists (such as the "Leather Thief") make Big Manitou a unique and interesting card game.
