A low complexity game of a variety of civil war battles. Modular terrain through the use of hexagonal tiles allows for the setup of several famous civil war battle fields and a plethora of plastic civil war miniatures are used to represent the various forces during the conflict. Players manage a hand of cards that provide different orders to your troops in the right flank, left flank and center position of the battlefield.

This game is based upon Richard Borg's Command and Colors system.

Winner of the 2001 International Gamers Award. Nominee for the 2000 Charles S. Roberts awards for Best Pre-World War II Boardgame (Charles S. Roberts Awards).

***** Excellent. This is a deceptively simple game. Richard Borg is a brilliant designer and the game play in Battle Cry flows extremely well. It's much less constrained by elaborate rules than most other systems - thanks to the basic principles of 'Command & Colors' as a wargaming concept - and yet the historical accuracy is still there, albeit on a slightly abstract level. The realism is in the overall to and fro of conflict and the 'big picture' that a game provides, not in small-scale encounters. The game manual is very clear, comprehensive, well illustrated and historically interesting. Battle Cry is fast becoming a 'classic' and may eventually be hard to find.
