A nice set of 38 heavy full-colour cardboard dungeon tiles, perfect for the D&D RPG itself, and for 1" map grid miniatures games (like Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures.)
The set nicely compliments a similar set of 4 tiles that came with the 3.5e D&D Basic Game (in fact, the Basic Game and a set of these tiles might make perfect gifts for a first-time player!)
The tiles are very sturdy and should stand up to normal game abuse. Most are reversable, with highly detailed rooms or architecture on one side, and a blank neutral stone grid on the other (grids are perfect for generic hallways or empty rooms.)
One set should be enough to make any small dungeon area you will probably ever need, although two or more can easily work together to make a huge dungeon or castle (though this set is probably best suited for making only artificial structures - perhaps WotC will make a similar set of natural caves and tunnels to compliment this set?)
Contents:
Two 8x10" - (shop interior) (tavern interior)
Two 4x8" - (rough terrain with broken masonry) (dungeon cell with scattered bones)
Two 2x8" - (long chasm) (row of gargoyle statues)
Four 4x4" - (large pit) (pool of water/cistern) (stepped pedestal, reverses to a treasure hoard) (fountain, reverses to a magic circle)
Twelve 2x4" - hallway grids (eight reverse to a blank wall) (three staircases) (one chasm)
Six 2x2" - (two mud/gravel/rough terrain) (one magic circle/teleporter) (one spiral staircase) (one obelisk) (one pit)
Eight 1x2" - all eight are doors on one side (four reverse to rough terrain)
Two 1x1" - (statue) (trap door)
One set of instructions for the tiles including some sample dungeons (a nice touch, but probably not necessary, even for beginning GM's and players.) -- By Jargos from Kentucky on September 15, 2006 |
