Some guys are wrong, she is one of the best Magic creatures, in the right deck, and the 8 mana cost mean NOTHING at all:

You guys forgot that there is a LOT of way to cheat her in the play. I can give the most simple one, just for exemple:

Dark Ritual + Putrid Imp, discart Arkoma + Exhume. And BINGO, you have her in the first turn, doing 6 of damage and your oponnent can do nothing.

8 mana cost is the HARD way and the most dumb way to play her. The mana cost in the top of this card is just there just for garnish, remember that.

Many of you noted that Akroma is vulnerable to spells like Damnation, Swords, Path, etc. Bravo--so are most creatures! I find it difficult to rate a card like Akroma a 2 or 3 because she isn't the "perfect" card. I've been playing MtG since 1995 & still haven't found the "perfect" card, played or made the "perfect" deck. Albeit somewhat expensive @ 8-mana, this card is truly amazing & has no drawbacks! 5 "imperfect" stars!

There are countless ways to drop Akroma within the first 2 or 3 turns. Honestly there are dozens of decks that could realistically run her with only a few very minor tweeks. I have even seen her run in a deck that contained no white mana. So, to say that she only belongs in reanimator or casual decks seems really short-sighted to me.

You can tap her for 5 mana of any color, she is indestructible, lets you search your library for any card, makes your opponent discard, kills any creature that damages you, and you can return her to your hand if she is targeted by your opponent. When she goes to the graveyard, return her to play with a p3p3 counter. she has deathtouch, and any creature killed by her is removed from the game instead. If a creature is removed this way, gain 7 life. Akroma, angel of wrath cannot be countered. When you draw Akroma, you may reveal it. If you do, take 3 extra turns after this one. 0: regenerate Akroma, angel of Wrath.

Ok. First of all, counters can deal with just about anything; so stop saying cards suck cuz they can be countered. And second, so what if it costs 8 mana. Darksteel colossus costs 11 mana but people still manage to get it out 3rd and 4th turn (myself included). There are ways of getting high mana cost cards out without having to pay all the mana. This card is amazing! Most white decks could use one or two. Especially white weenie decks. Throw in a concerted effort and all of your creatures share Akromas abilities.

I put this card in my protection deck. You get akroma and concerted effort out, your opponent stands almost no chance.

The card is good enough on its own but if you want to have protection from white just equip sword of light and shadow to her and you now have an 8/8 with protection from black, red, and white, gain three life anytime you deal combat damage to a player, and return one creature card from your graveyard to your hand. You could easily do without the sword but it just makes her much more unstoppable.

This is a very good card. Anyone who denies this fact either is new to magic or is just plain stupid. Yes this card is vulnerable; there is no such thing as an invincible card. Having one out in play at the right time can pretty much ensure a victory, and as for the high mana cost, there are many ways to deal with it. Oh, and for anyone who say that Visara, the Dreadful or Avatar of Woe can kill this, please go to Magicthegathering.com and read the comprehensive rules titled "Protection."

All right, all right, she can be counter that's for sure but as far as I know almost everything can be counter in magic, only few cards are able to avoid this... Akroma Angel Of Wrath is worth its price in $ and mana cost, I am playing a blue-white-green deck and she is devastating when you need to punish the unworthy. If you love to destroy black-red decks (very common combination)she is what you need. Fear the counterspells? use Boseiju who shelters all, guttural response or better the vexing shusher, there are tons of ways to protect her from anything even from white... Just summon her and point to the unworthy. Best angel card and that's that.

Im going to be sad when she goes away but still one of the best cards in the game. i had a r/w control deck with her as one of my win conditions. i also had Akroma, Angel of Fury in my side board for those control decks that can scoop when they see her. Around where i play we call her Akroma, Angel of TextBox :)

A better card for competitive battles than Phage, and easier to use. The mana's a problem but with in a reanimation deck with ressurection, that's no longer a problem.

One of the top big beater cards. Shuts down aggro, and puts your opponent on a 3 turn clock. Lately though, white has received a good amount of removal in the form of condemn and faith's fetters. Placing this in a blue/white deck, maybe splashing some black will set up for a powerful deck.

Best beater, second only to darksteel colossus.

Amazing. Nothing bad about it. When it was reprinted in Time Spiral, I about fainted. In T2 at states in '06, this card saved my butt more then 73525973898667254 times. There are absolutely NO drawbacks to playing her. The only stitch in its' side is when someone says, "Nice Akroma. Faith's Fetters." Ow.

Wicked card. Totally rockin' if you have it against a red or black deck. Normally 8 mana is pretty expensive for a card, but this is totally worth it. A 6/6 with flying, haste, trample, and protection from red and black.

This card is one of the most kick butt cards ever peoples. Kmon 8 mana for a 6/6 Flying, First strike, Hast, Trample, Protection from red, black and attacking does't cause it to tap aw man thats sweet. If you give it Shield and Sword of Kaldra and Loxodon Warhammer uve pretty much have the game in the bag. Me personally I have 3 in my deck. So get one if your a white deck fan because they will help.

Even if it is pretty expensive to buy and play the abilities this card has makes it worth it! I was thinking of making a white and black deck combining the strategy and sheer power of Akroma with the instant killing effect of Phage! That actually would work very well, Akroma clears the field and Phage destroys the opponent! The greatest enemies combining as one: Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends!

Kickass card that everyone should have in a legend or an angel deck! It is really helpful for situations when you play a black or red deck. Especially when they don't have flyers. When I was playing my bro (playing for 10 years) he played a phage and I thought I would be killed but I got akroma next turn! The pro black really was useful

This is one of the best cards I've ever seen! It's a 6/6, which is not bad, and it also has almost every attack ability there is! Flying, First Strike, Trample, Haste, Protection from Black and from Red! If that's not enough, ATTACKING DOESN'T CAUSE THIS CARD TO TAP! If you are a serious magic player and have a little extra money, GET THIS CARD!

Wow, this card is definately one of the best angels ever. I guess that you could expect it with an all creature series though. Perfect for any white deck that needs some protection from red or black, and she can defeat Phage without dying herself (but the chances of the two creatures going at it with one another is fairly small)

OK so you play this card 4th 5th turn using mana flare, gilded lotus, or a dark rituals. so after doing all that what happens, your opponent counters it!!!! after the people you play against realize it can be killed so darn easily. your "akroma" isnt looking so good. if your a new player, yes I encourage you to buy this card for $12.00 if not there are much safer cards to put in a white deck.

Greg, actually Jace was right. Damnation does kill Akroma, Angel of Wrath just as Wrath of God kills Akroma, Angel of Fury. Protection from Black is a little trickier than it sounds... it means that the card can't be targeted by a Black spell, but it can still be killed by a Black spell that does not specifically target this card (such as Damnation).
0
- May 29, 2008
-- Greg Johnston
Jace...it has pro-black...Damnation won't affect it...Anyway, Akroma is totally amazing, except it costs way too much and she's legendary...If you run her as almost the only creautre in a UW Control, she can do wonders, but I'm not totally sold...But still: she has pro-black and -red, the two colors that would kill her, she has vigilance so she can attack and block, Flying gives her evasion, and trample makes it useless to chump-block her. She's also a 6/6, which is gonna be really hard to kill...

this card is pretty good a must hahave for some decks. The only problem is it takes too long to get it out into play. But all in all I would use it.

A fan favorite you may say. This card is sweet for the fact that it has almost every good ability that a creature could have, but it really is "noob" card. It's not exactly a devastating card for 8 mana that you're paying, and for that fact is the reason that it is never played competitively. There are better game-deciding creatures such as Morphling and Masticore and there are better white cards such as Balance, Land Tax, and Swords to Plowshares (which can easily take out an akroma). Overall, this card is a great collectible due to its impressive amounts of positive abilities and its high power; however, it is nowhere near one of the greatest creatures ever, let alone Magic cards as a whole.

Yeah she is great, but like all cards she has a massive flaw, she is a card in magic and can still be gotten rid of. You can kill her Visera or Avatar of woe, but it takes a little effort. You can even kill her with Jaya Ballard, but it takes time. Let us say with Vis or AoW you also have a Mycosynth Lattice in play...BAM...no more Akroma, also you could then terror akroma. With Jaya Ballard you'd have to turn Akroma blue, which isn't hard, then turn Jaya Ballard some other color than red and bam, destroy target blue perm. Well I am done now, Akroma is still awesome.

I'll admit, Akroma is a great card. For god's sake if you can get her out she'a practically a game winner, but one thing people seem to not understand is that her protection from black doesn't save her from Visara. Plus Phage is much better.

@kinglouie - I agree with you that counterspells do not matter as much when getting Akroma into play, however I'm going to go ahead and flat out disagree with you on what decks Akroma should be included in. If you're not playing Reanimator or casual play, please do not play this card in a tournament setting or people WILL laugh at you. White weenie should not be playing this deck since by the time you hard cast it, you will most likely be dead as white has next to no good mana accelerators.

@Akroma - Fun to play in reanimator/oath/proteus staff.dec but otherwise stay away, she's poison.

OK the card is way over-rated yes granted it has all those great abilities and it only cost infinity to play it, it is no match for black even though it has no protection so if you want to know the secret to beating it... play mono black then play Damnnation or cruel edict and then you extirpate it and bye bye Akroma. oh and btw if you can get it out of the hand before it can be played.

She may have great abilities but she is anything but practical. She's insanely expensive (8 mana!?), i mean even with all of her abilities she just isnt all that great, she can still be path to exiled, condemned, etc. and i think its sad that they are going to make all this fuss over a new deck when it's really just old cards wrapped in new packages...

Super expensive and WILL be countered by about every blue deck. Akroma, Angel of Fury rules now! If you are havig problems with Black or Red though(because of their burn and destroy effects) put in some Swords of Fire/Ice or Light/Shadow. These two equimoment cards are much more versitile in my deck and I can have more than oe out on the field pumpming up weenies for amuch lower cost than 8. Gotta admit the sweetness of this card though:P
