This was the first module I ever experienced, and it was DM'd by the owner of a hobby shop in a small strip-mall in Lake Elsinore Ca. His reputation drew playing groups for miles around; I lived in Riverside at the time--a good forty minutes drive, way back then. The group was small--4 of us--so he allowed us 2 characters each; which was a good thing, because this module can be heartless in the right hands! But it is rewarding, as well--and teaches a brash, new playing group how to pace themselves. Too much hoopla on both sides has distracted from the endearing charm this adventure offers. However, it should be played as written: a Basic adventure; and not let to become a playground for Advanced characters, like my group was using at the time. A great learning tool, for both DM and group. -- By Thork, the dwarf from Menifee, CA USA on September 10, 2007 |
