The Elric brothers had the most tragic tale in the world, with their father dieing while they were very young and then their mother dieing when they were around 11. The brothers try to revive their mother with forbidden alchemy and have to pay a horrible price with Alphonse losing his entire body and being soul bound to Armor while Edward loses an arm and a leg during the forbidden experiment.

Winry is the mechanical expert and child-hood friend to the Elrics. She built and fixes Edward's Automail when needed. Her parents were both doctors in Ishbalan's Civil War and were sadly killed in their tour.
