A futuristic police thriller that is has been referred to as a cyberpunk or post cyberpunk anime based on the manga series with the same title. The series focuses more on the ethical and philosophical points of humanity and technology merging closer to one element.

Wachowski brothers pointed out the influence of Ghost in the Shell in the style and even certain similar scenes in their creating of the Matrix trilogy.
