The story follows Yusuke Uranmeshi, a young street fighter man with a typical tough guy approach towards everything. His family life is actually not that great and he is constantly with the counselor at the school.

After getting killed in a sudden act of heroism by saving a little boy from a speeding car he goes to the after life unexpected. He is told that no one was prepared for him to die that way and his arrival was not at proper timing. After many tests of his worth he was sent back to the living world with assigned work to become a detective investigating demonic activity in the human world. With the enlisted help from his friends Reikai, Makai, and Ningenkai he seeks out to fight off the demons bent on taking the rule of all the worlds.
