Based from Yoshito Usui's manga series Crayon Shin-chan this anime revolves around Kindergartner Shinnosuke Nohara. Along with his parents, they live in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The name of the series comes from the "crayon" object. Signifying the unique artwork of the characters seemingly being drawn by crayons. Shin-chan is the nick name of the the main character Shinnosuke.

Shin Chan or Shinnosuke Nohara is a 5 year old kindergarten student who the story revolves around. Shin Chan is generally a very honest, constantly moving, and shameless child. His behavior is unlike the accordance of other Japanese children and social behavior.
