Athena is a very challenging game. You start off as a Princess (if you’re a boy, don’t judge the game on that fact) who starts off the game in the middle of the forest. Apparently she was bored with every day “princess” life and decided to open “The Door Which Shouldn’t Be Opened” in the basement of her castle, “Castle Victory” and fell into a world called “Fantasy World.”
The game is a Platform game, you move from left to right, but not back to the left. Many creatures attack you along the way, and when defeated they may drop a weapon or some kind of item. Weapons you can only hold one of, and if you accidentally pick up another item, you lose the last one you had. Items however you hold onto until you reach the next level, unless you discover the level’s “K” (I call it the Keep Key) which will allow you to carry over all Armor, items, and the weapon you had.
(Spoilers ahead)
There are many fascinating levels, starting at a forest where the boss is a giant Man-Eating (or should I say Princess-Eating?) Tree.
Other levels include a Pyramid, an ocean, the heavens, what appears to be some kind of Icy Ruins, and a Labyrinth. I haven’t been able to get past the Labyrinth. -- By scott Ivie from California USA on October 22, 2008 |
