**** ...good card... nice discard .... same ability as thoughtseize , but this one is BB , but very useful in a type1 discard/control deck , this is very very useful... play it with tourach, funeral charm or duress, plus extirpate... cripple your opponents hand and deck...

*** It's like a duress but with one more mana cost and the possibility of taking out the creatures...

**** well two things; the card and its art. i play a 1.5 monoblack deck in which recently i switched out three 'mesmeric fiend' for three of these. just a little stronger and i don't think i'll miss the creatures although time will tell. don't really like the new card format started with 8th edition and then the 'mirridon' block but still enjoy the art on this one. also, don't usually enjoy personalized quotes from the character on the card but this one was also an exception. really captures a flavor i feel, sorta like an eastern grimm's fairy tales illustration. maybe not tasty but unique nonetheless. anyway, advise getting the foil version as they're usually better and should be quite cheap as of this writing. in conclusion, if this fits your deck, recommend highly...................

**** This is no duress but, this card is definately goin to be used. Constructed discard is looking pretty good right now and i wouldnt be suprised if it pops up here and there.
