Blue Uncommon Instant

Eventide is the second set in the Shadowmoor block. Eventide introduces two new mechanics called Retrace and Chroma. Retrace allows one to play a card out of one’s graveyard with the added cost of discarding a land. Chroma makes mana of a certain color a variable that determines the effect of a card.

***** I think for a control deck is very good.I use it in a blue/white with a lot of draw card and this counter is just perfect for that.

**** Works along with milling by removing 1 more turn of game from the deck. Also nice for discard decks by keeping the opponents hand full. Way better than arcane denial, in the right spots.

***** In constructed there is no straight up 2 mana counterspell anymore--not without a catch, though familiars ruse can be better than counterspell sometimes...Anyhow if both players draw 1 the card advantage is all relative and usually minimal. 3 mana counterspell is whats left. Awesome for constucted control, a joke in extended. What do you play in is the real question.

**** So the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned... strictly better, or strictly worse than Arcane Denial? I like the symmetry of the card drawing, but the extra blue mana looks like sort of a bitch. What do others think?
