i love this guy. i jut got back into playing not long ago thanks to duels of the planeswalkers arcade title on the xbox 360. one of the expansion decks, eons of evil, had this card. i entered a 4 player match against a white deck, a green deck, and a blue black artifact deck. just happened to draw two of these guys in my opening hand along with a earthquake. got them both out without being bothered much(i hardly played anything except a few small creatures early game and they left me alone). each of them had 5-8 small creatures with toughness 2 or less. an earthquake for 2, and the thoctars got HUGE and were the only creatures left except one or two, which were then disposed of using his ability. love it :-)

I agree,this is a severely underestimated card. I'm making a deck 4 suicidal charge,4 lightmine field,4 of these guys,4 blood cultist and several others.

An amusingly underestimated card. A little combo I cooked up with him was to devour 5 creatures with Thunder-Thrash Elder giving Deathbringer 5 counters and the Elder 15, then fate transfer all those counters to Deathbringer and use them for 20 damage. Really any card that gains counters quickly can be used to fate transfer so your not limited by any means. Unfortunately he only gets 4 stars because he's a 3/3 that costs 6 that can't do anything by himself, but for those looking for crazy combos that completely take your opponents off guard look no further.
