The miniature itself is pretty solid. It's a better sculpt and paint job than the Eye of Flame, but still pales in comparison to the original Beholder. Unfortunately, for some reason the decision was made to mount this beholder on a soft, flexible plastic base rather than the normally more firm bases as with previous sets. The problem with this is that these flexible bases are often horribly misshapen and the miniature will not stand on its own as a result. Attempts to fix this (the often reliable hot/cold shaping method included) failed to make any permanent changes to the shape. This problem has been fairly consistent among other collectors I've spoken to, so be aware that it is a potential problem.
