***** Add Spinerock Knoll and Dragonstorm and this guy is cheap and powerful!

-- By Brandon F. from Missoula, Montana on August 22, 2010

**** I'm so happy that the price on the Hellkite has dropped. Now even an everyday guy can play with Dragons :D

-- By Jens from Denmark on November 05, 2009

***** this is just an absolutely sick card. With Dragonstorm off the standard scene, its price seems to have gone down to the point where I can easily order 3 for my Naya Ramp deck. Even without Lotus Cobra I can see it coming down on the 5th turn...followed by a Colossal Might or two...bam!

***** The pros are stupid and this is just an overcosted Shivan. I mean really it dies to removal and can be countered! For shame! And what's more . . . it costs more than overrun. That clearly makes it bad . . . because, as everyone knows, every good card is immune to removal and counterspells and costs less than overrun.

** K honestly, your gonna be wasting 8 mana when your precious shivian dragon gets terminated or cancelled before it hits the board, and if your not playing against anything with black red or blue, by turn 8 your opponent already has an overun that he has already used or is ready to use, not to mention a dauntless escort, don't be foolish enough to build a tourney deck around him.

***** DRAGON STORM! :)

-- By Patrick from São Paulo , Brasil on September 27, 2008

***** While its mana cost IS a little excessive, it pairs well with the theme from Naya, one of the Shards in Shards of Alara, the new expansion. Naya deals with 5 or more power creatures, and this fits the bill perfectly. Not only that, but it works exceptionally well in RWU Bounce decks.

**** It's a card that I thought I wouldn't use, but it turned out to be quite useful in many different circumstances. It takes 8 to cast for a 5/5 flyer, but he can be brought into play at any time due to flash...and he does 5 damage however you want to a number of targets. This could be used to toast your opponent, or certain creatures that might be a problem. It turned out to be a nice card, and usually finds its way into my deck.

**** turn one dark ritual, buried alive, put Bladewing the risen, and 2 hellkites in the graveyard. turn 2 animate dead the bladewing into play and get the hellkite out for free. Its not tourney legal or anything i dont believe, but the look on my friends faces the first time i did this to them was great.

**** it's not a fair card! but it is pretty awsome!

***** Dragon reanimator gotz a new, painful friend. Rorix Bladewing, Brimstone Dragon and Volcanic Dragon all have haste, but this guy has something better. FIVE DIRECT DAMAGE TO THE FACE! Playset + Living Death is only kinda funny:)

-- By Bob, the Demonic Chipmunk from California on January 29, 2007

***** this guy is a must have! 4 please!

-- By Anonymous from borgardan hellkiteville on November 26, 2006

**** This guy is nothing short of awesome... one of the best finishers in standard when he comes into play its 5 to the face or good bye weenies...

-- By Anonymous from TN on November 18, 2006

***** I love this card. I have always had a soft spot for big mean Red creatures and this is about as mean as they come. Provided, of course, you have the mana to play him. This can be a finisher in the late game and will always turn the game in your favor when played.
