***** What's better than a Lotus Petal? Why a Lotus Petal signed by April Lee of course.

***** It's not restricted in Legacy.

***** black lotus is also resricted.

***** To the reviewer above, do you realize that both Black lotus and Lotus Petal are restricted? Even if you were the richest man in the world, at a tourny you could not run 4 Black Lotus. Anyways, Lotus Petal is an amazing card. This card has definitively had its moments in my deck. Great for random first turn plays.

***** Being a mere one-third of the legendary Black Lotus dosen't mean that it isn't powerful and MTG players have shown that. Lotus Petal can still acclerate your mana base quickly and effiently. For those of us who can't afford to put 4 Black Lotuses in our decks (almost all of us can't) then put 4 Lotus Petals in.

***** Any lotus is a good lotus. Having any extra mana on the first turn or early in the game is just a huge advantage. Think about having two blue mana to pull of a first turn counterspell, or sending two weenies out on the first turn, or whatever annoyance you can conjure up early in the game. Doing things one or more turns earlier than your opponent anticipates is just plain fun. No wonder this card is banned/restricted in tournaments.

***** Which is why it's restricted. I give this a five, even though it is only 1/3rd of the Black Lotus, because it has a different use. Often times, it is just the 1 mana of any colour that gets you over the top, whereas BL gives you 3 of the same.

***** 4 of these plus Tolarian Academy= 8 mana first turn.

-- By bob from here on March 10, 2003

**** Most definitely not a Black Lotus, which is easily a 5-Star card. Idiots who give it anything other then a 4 or a 5 don't have the foggiest clue what they're talking about. However, Lotus Petal is still a good, solid card, providing a third of what Black Lotus does, for the same cost of absolutely nothing. Even getting a mana for free is good, it accelerates your deck, allowing you to do many wondrous deeds indeed. Enjoy it.
