***** BEST SPHINX PERIOD! sure there are a lot of "if" it had "_" or "if" it had that; but this card is solid.

**** Zombie, do you know what type of decks run this? Decks running blue, decks that can protect it. In a format where Terminate, Path, ORing, Journey, Pulse, Bolt, Doom Blade, and so on exist, shroud is nothing to overlook. It's not a format definig card but it does what it does very well. Unless they're countering, running Gatekeeper or using a sweeper they're stuck facing a flying 5/5.

*** I don't see the big thing with this card. 5/5 flying and shroud is ok,but not great. So many things to kill it. And it doesn't even have vigilance. Sphinx of the Steel Wind...now that's what I'm talking about. Yeah costs 2 more but look at all ur getting and pro red/green. The only thing that can really get rid of it are white removals. Most black can't because it is a black artifact. And for what can get it equip with one of many shroud cards.

**** 3 pyroclasms(or 3 Volcanic Fallout) WOULD kill it because pyroclasm doesn't target. Very, very good in draft. Once this thing hits play its game over man.

**** Shroud says it cant be a target. Pyroclasm doesn't target anything. Its a boardsweeper like wrath of god or day of judgement.

***** This is a great card, it's a good finisher and it doesn't die to Path or Doubolt. Just to clear a few things up *flashes Rules Advisor badge* A) Anytime means if it is on the battlefield. The ability is a static ability. It has it if isn't on the battlefield, it just doesn't apply. B) Shroud doesn't stop Pyroclasm...

***** Cards great, but whats really cool is that pyroclasm does affect it. Shroud means it cant be targeted, but if you just bathe the entire field in fir its gonna hit him. Regardless, the card is a good bomb as a 1st or 2nd win condition in a control deck. Just put one in say a mil deck and even that wil be a problem for your opponent...much less four or a deck built to field them. They are very hard to stop.

***** You haven't been playing very long have you Chair?

-- By Berginz from OC, CA on January 10, 2010

**** it's pretty cool considering it has shroud so those pyroclasms you were talking about wouldn't touch him, and i think "at any time" means just when the card is out on the battlefield, otherwise the card would be first, a little rarer than it is right now, and second, would not have been put in an intro pack.

-- By Anonymous from my chair on December 30, 2009

**** Hey jens... if it's not in play it doesn't have any abilities. 5/5 flying shroud comes in handy with a very random but useful (free) ability

-- By Mista from Cali on November 24, 2009

***** This card has to be one of the better finishers around in type 2 at the moment. Staring at it across the table swinging at you is scary. Almost nothing you can do about it. Other than DoJ or Martial coup... or maybe 3 pyroclasms =p

-- By Karim Hus from Australia on November 03, 2009

**** "At any time"... does that mean that you may look at the top card of your library if you've got the Sphinx in your hand? In your library? Sideboard? What if you take it out of your folder and show it to your opponent? Will that allow you to look at the top card of your library? I can't wait till Gatherer is updated.. They need to specify what "at any time" precisely means. Anyhow, a 5/5 flying & shrouded beater for 6 mana is fine in draft, but I'm not sure if it'll survive tournament play

***** The new & improved Zephid! You just got served Banefire & Path!
