"June 6, 1944. The Allies land in Normandy to liberate France from German rule. The liberation however, won't be an easy road. From D-Day at Omaha Beach, through the battle for Normandy, the Allies will fight the Germans tooth and nail, bayonet and rifle, tank on tank."

Tank on Tank is a new Peter Bogdasarian design. A smaller game that can be learned in less than five minutes and played during a lunch break, Tank on Tank depicts tactical ground combat in Europe in the latter years of World War II.

  • The scale? It doesn't really matter in Tank on Tank, let's just call it tactical.
  • The units? Tank on Tank includes Shermans, Wolverines, Priests, Tigers, Mark IVs, as well as the infantry and anti-tank guns that fought alongside them.
  • If you've been looking for a simple game to scratch that tactical itch, or something to introduce a young tactician to war gaming, Tank on Tank might be the answer.

***** The rule book was very logical and precise, read thru the rule it was easy and fast to learn . A quick set up and we were ready to play the first scenario: Head to Head. Here are the highlights of or first game : After a few turns of moving units into position, I got off the first shots but failed to hit anything. My German opponent firing back brewed up my leading Wolverine (anti-tank armor) that had made it to the town at H4. The focus shifted to the center town at E6 where I moved my lead Sherman tank in first, but again only to see it go up in smoke! Bringing up my last unit offboard the Priest (mobile 105 artillery) for the extra firepower boost, it helped even up the score as the board was fast becoming littered with the burning armor scattered around the center of the board. In the last few turns of the game "Fritz" had gained all 3 towns that were objectives. I pulled back to escape his combined attacks and made one last lunge to take back two of those towns. One of the assaults destroyed a Tiger holding the town at E6 , but the second assault at town H4 failed to destroy the Panzer IV that was lurking there. So after ten turns maneuvering, attacking and counterattacking I had to concede defeat! Great fast playing tactical armor game! This was one wild slugfest ! The game play was smooth and tense as you didn't know when your turn would end after your first two action points were used. Want to play this game next time we get together and try the next senario! Correctly positioning HQs and massing fire, seems to be some of the keys to victory.
