Collector's Edition (Domestic) Complete Set (Magic: the Gathering)
*This complete set contains 363 non-foil, gold-bordered cards. The only difference between this set and the International Edition is the text on the back of the card. "Collector's Edition" reads across the back of these cards, while the International versions all read "International Edition" across the back.
This special collectors' edition of Magic: The Gathering contains all 302 cards from the original Deckmaster series of playable trading cards. The complete set is augmented with duplicates of the many land cards, making a total of 363 cards. These cards are produced in a special collectors' format with square-cut corners and gold borders. So pick up the Magic: The Gathering Collectors' Edition and explore the whole world in one box.
*Description provided by the manufacturer
I purchased this is 1994, the MSRP printed on the box is $ 50 USD, I paid $ 85 Canadian in Vancouver, BC Canada.
My older brother was paying his rent in Boston, MA trading Magic cards on eBay and mentioned they got up to six or seven hundred dollars at one point.
My Collector's Set is still un-opened in the original shrink wrap, stored in a bank safe deposit vault.
Despite the fact they are not Tournament Playable they can still be used to play with, although one would want to keep the cards in near mint condition.
Since you get one example of each Magic card first made, it is not possible to rate this lower than the best.

I take a star off this solely for the fact that you can use these cards in tourney play, but hey, who would buy this for that anyway? A super way to get the complete Beta set, and very, very collectible, as the name suggests.
