DescriptionThe Alpha set was designed by Richard Garfield and released in August of 1993.  This set consists of 295 cards, 74 common, 95 uncommon and 116 rares with 10 lands.  Alpha cards have black borders.  There is no set symbol for this set.  The easiest way to discern an Alpha card is the more rounded corner.   The estimated print run was 2,600,000 cards.

Cards of note in this set are many, including the Power Nine cards at the top of the heap. Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Timetwister & Time Walk make up the Power Nine.  Additionally Dual Lands, Birds of Paradise, Serra Angel, Sol Ring & many other notable cards are found throughout the set.

Dingus Egg is a good card if used properly. Personally I use this in a discard deck with Traumatize and a few Megrims. Why not deal some nasty damage while discarding the crap out of someone.

Excellent card when used in combination with armageddon, stone rains, etc.- one of the must haves for any land destruction deck.

Hmmmmm, this card could be good except for 1 small reason, a land doesn't go to the graveyard that often. If you want to use this card then you would have to base your whole deck around destry target land cards and so on and so on. By the time you get all these cards and waste a lot of money your deck will suck and you wil be dissapointed.
