You can still base a deck around this card, just support with counter and include Curiosity and a Timmy. Library of Lat-Nam helps to get the Mind, too.

Nowadays try this with Arcanus the Omnipotent-he's tap to draw three cards- pitch one to untap- get 2/3rd's of you library immediately. I like in a patron wizard deck also-pitch a land to keep a counterspell lock going when your opponent thinks you've slipped.
