Mishra's Workshop (Antiquities)

Rarity : U1
Card Type : Land

Though he eventually came to despise Tocasia, Mishra listened well to her lessons on clarity of purpose. Unlike his brother, he focused his mind on a single goal.

***** Of course...... 5 STARS...... It is a permanet Lotus for Artefact`s. And.... I`m the prowed owner from one of them with a PSA9 Rating... that is by the way already more than 500$, for sure. So I will hold them..... hm .... for ever.

***** People are always making the excuse "it's bad because I can destroy it". Rather, this card DEMANDS a removal spell. I'm sick of people claiming that good cards are bad just because they have a way of dealing with them. Fine, you're happy about your Strip Mine? I'm happy about my Stifle which just countered your Strip Mine's ability! Every single card in Magic can be dealt with, one way or another. There are no exceptions, and there aren't going to be any either. This is one of Magic's unwritten rules that ensures fairness in the game. Okay... now with that out of the way, I just wanna say that this card is broken, and I mean really, really broken. Obviously, you'd only ever play Mishra's Workshop in an Artifact deck, but in such a deck, Mishra's Workshop acts like a permanent Black Lotus. You can get 3 mana on your first turn for casting Artifacts, which frankly, is a whole lot. For 3 mana I could cast.. well, in an Affinity deck, I could basically cast my whole hand if I wanted to, which kinda explains the hefty price tag. Anyway, outstanding card; the price tag shouldn't have an impact on your review of the card itself.

***** There should be no question about this and LoA being the two best lands printed to date.

***** First turn, Mishra Workshop. Tap to add 3 colorless mana and play Painter Servant and Grindstone. If you are best draw, then play Black Lotus to activate the Grindstone and the game is over... so cruel...

*** good card, not great.... because of 2 simple words... strip mine.... yea sure you get 3 mana, but its only for artifacts.... and the price is way to expensive... yea i would play one, but unless i hit the lottery.. i wouldnt buy any.. and as vintage gets faster and better.. this card is gonna go up in price... so find alteritives, like ancient tomb, city of traitors, blasted landscape and lotus vale... yea there is a drawback with those, but the price is less than a quarter of the price of mishras.... there are so many ways to create colorless mana today in the magic scene... and ones that wont be destroyed so quickly... another card that stops this is wasteland, ghostquarter and bloodmoon... again cards that are so cheap and easy to get, it really doesnt matter if you do get to use mishras factory.. you probally will get only one use before it gets destoyed.... and even if you do get to use it, your mana is reduced by one turn and that could be the difference in winning or losing... perfect example: turn 2 infinate turns with voltaic key and time vault...

***** I play artifacts a lot, and in my opinion, this is probably the best land in the game. Much better than the hugely over-rated, hugely over-priced Library of Alexandria. I have a hard time spending more money on 1 card than most of my complete decks cost, but at least this one is worthy of its price tag.

***** Um, first turn play this and a Trinisphere? wow. This card is insanely broken.

***** >Library of Alexandria..

***** My god, what a great feeling it was to crack open a pack of Antiquities today, and pull out one of these babies. WOW, this card is so broken.

***** The ultimate essence of any artifact-based deck, lands that make it all possible for all those awesome 1st turn drops of so many game influencing 3 mana costed artifacts. Lands that make having to draw first against decks optimally tuned and built to use those lands really a nightmare. Price comes with those gifts.

-- By Arno Edgar from Leningrad, Russia on November 10, 2005

***** Insanely overpowered card, especially with artifacts as powerful as they are now. If any card needs to be (re-)restricted, it is this one.

-- By Grayson from Louisville on September 25, 2005

***** Not much can be said. 1 land, 3 mana. There's a reason it is worth so much.

-- By Ben from Canada on March 16, 2005

***** The only land that can produce 3 mana. need I say more?
