***** Torpor Orb.

-- By Kris Lincoln from Ravnica on May 14, 2011

*** For to be having not liked the earlier powerful cards, this would not have gotten bad. When playing the larger ones, you cant sometimes lay it for creatures you already have in hand. That includes also other color mana from which you spend to cast one. Protected by affinity? Maybe in legacy, but not standard I would agree with that.

-- By Jansen R. from Indonesia on July 28, 2010

***** ok, so you just spent 20 something on you nought... Save your self a few buck and get trickbind instead of stifle. It does the same thing only you can get it for a buck and some change, did i mention it has split second.?.. Use the money you saved to take your girl to the movies of dinner, because while she may tolerate your magic jones she isnt going to be putting out unless you are my friends. Just some advice from a happily married father of 4.

-- By Neil Gordon from Minneapolis, MN on June 23, 2010

***** Jim from WI needs to look at rules and regs......last checked here the dreadnought is NOT like mox diamond (mana source) where a cost must be paid BEFORE it hits battlefield. PAY 1 mana and dreadnought is IN PLAY. Now the stack gets the sac 12 worth effect and this is a CHOICE not a must to play him. Phase with vision charm, which resolves 1st, then the stack sees sac 12 effect resolve. You want to choose "no sacrifice" so the other critters are safe, and guess what? no dreadnought in play to send to graveyard, so fine ..... but don't worry Jim......he's coming back soon without trigger affects effecting YOUR BATTLEFIELD. Enjoy the awesome foil noughts runnin' wild like hulkamania too. What a card.

-- By Anonymous from USAAAAAA!!!! on June 19, 2010

***** [Vision Charm works. Dreadnoughts come into play ability is placed on stack, play vision charm while still on stack. Dreadnought phases out, Do not pay for his ability, No Dreadnought in play so no worries. Phasing has special rules saying comes-into-play abilities don’t apply when permanents phase in. Permanents affected by phasing does not trigger comes-into-play or leaves-play abilities. At least it was like time I checked comp rules or asked a judge. But hey I could be wrong. Also works with stifle and Trickbind.]

-- By Hayden Wilcox from TNT on June 11, 2010

***** Phrexyian Dreadnought + Pandemonium + Furnace of Rath = nuff' said

-- By Oj from Leatherwood on June 10, 2010

***** Vision Charm will not work in place of Stifle the way the reviewers above me suggested. In order to be a viable target for Vision Charm, Dreadnought must ALREADY be in play, and therefore, his ability will have already triggered.

-- By Jim from Madison, WI on June 10, 2010

***** This is Probably my favorite card in magic, yes there are better out there, but the picture says it all. Look at that little dude awwww. my favorite setup since i cant afford stifles is vision charm. my first turn cast setup is 1st turn, lotus pedal, island, dreadnought, vision charm, and taaadaaa, 2nd turn hard to beat. there are plenty of ways to drop it first turn, mine is just the budget way since the only reason i have my dreadnoughts is from talking my friends out of them back in the late 90's

-- By JonBomb from Knoxville on May 28, 2010

***** You can use vision charm if you don't want to pay big bucks for stifle. It phases out an artifact and when an artifact phases in there are no comes into play triggered abilities. Same amount of mana and you get to attack the the next turn just like with stifle.

-- By jklz from Minneapolis, MN on May 10, 2010

**** Stifle is pretty awesome to combo with this, and now Rise of the Eldrazi brings Renegade Doppelganger. Not the best combo but still 1 time (perhaps more) 12/12 for cheaper than the sacrifice cost.

-- By Cameron Gulley from La crosse, WI on April 24, 2010

***** One of the top 20 Best MTG Cards EVER!, turn 1 Gemstone Caverns, Island, Stifle, Phyrexian Dreadnought, at 2nd Turn Your opponent have 8 Life. :)

-- By Joker from Mexico on April 09, 2010

***** OMG! now this has been released by DCI this month as a JUDGE FOIL ... after 14 years. You little dreadnought HATERS finally released a FOIL... thank god and this green earth for FOIL NOUGHTS! i can't wait to get just 1 ... good luck everyone

-- By JB from NJ on March 19, 2010

***** man, stifle this guy second turn and your usually set, i mean the likelyhood of an opponent running naturalizes is very small (some sarcasim involved), but playing this early game usually results in a big time win.

-- By Anonymous from Colorado on March 13, 2010

***** I'm sure everyone is aware of the combo between this and Stifle, but those people rating this low because "it's an Artifact, and Artifacts are easy to destroy with Oxidize, Naturilize, Disenchant (insert whatever artifact removal you know of) etc." are clearly not aware that BLUE IS THE COLOR OF COUNTERSPELLS ! All you have to after having cast the Dreadnaught + Stifle combo, is simply countering any artifact removal that your opponent might have got (This means that aren't going to cast ANYTHING except lands and counterspells). Easy as that, people!

-- By Jens N from Denmark on March 04, 2010

***** stifle...i win. but if you decide to play him the 'fair' way, watch out for terminate. but then again, that's what countermagic is for.

-- By Greg from Atlanta on January 30, 2010

***** anddddd ......... Berserk just got reprinted in FOIL........ WotC must have had a GOOD acid trip...... i love Dreadnoughts ..... 2nd turn 24 wheeler coming your way. NO STOP SIGNS ! lolololol

-- By Anonymous from LOVE Noughts on December 31, 2009

***** stifle is great with this card, but the best creature to sacrifice to this is arcbound ravager! think of the possibilities!

-- By timdog from rhode island on December 30, 2009

***** This other Mark from WI is clearly a nub. I have been running him Green Blue. First turn Mox Diamond Tropical Island drop the dreadnought and stifle his ability as he comes into play. Turn 2 beserk the dreadnought and shake hands as you swing your 24/12 trample dreadnought.

-- By Mark from Marshfield, WI on December 11, 2009

* its is no good becuz you have to kill you other monsters to get him out to your army and then you put him out and yor oponant kills him and you hard work was good for nothing

-- By Mark from Wisconsin on December 03, 2009

*** This is easy people stop making it complicated. 1 - Play the Dreadnought 2 - Play the instant "Stifle" to counter its own ability (This will cost 2 mana...) 3 - Win...

-- By conor murtha from Staten Island, NY USA on October 01, 2009

***** ok he may not be there during your opponents next turn to block for you and gobble up their little goonies..... but not a SINGLE person has mentioned to "USE VISION CHARM" ..... Dr. DEAD Nought will phase in prior to your untap step and the vision charm is an OLD card.... How come no one put this together about 10 years ago? WTF ?? vision charm can also protect him from a STP or any eliminate artifact/creature effect (i dont believe i'm wrong here) ..... i'm sure that will make the person across the table happy to know the monster will be right back to trample them down next turn again. Just remember Stifle/trickbind can't make this guy do a disappearing act like the Houdini charm can..... so it is also a way to keep another countering spell in hand for later. DR DEAD has been going up in value rather well. GREAT CARD

-- By Anonymous from Good Lord this guy is BIG on July 31, 2009

*** Cool, but u all are forgetting naturalize and wear away kill this for 2.

-- By wtf from Cleveland, OH on July 29, 2009

*** Awesome card! I think it needs to be pointed out to Bob Hope from Buttmonkeyville that if you already have a sliver queen, heartstone, and ashnod's altar, you should be attacking with your infinite slivers, not wasting your time putting out creatures you don't really need. Let's face it, if you have infinite slivers in play, you don't need more creatures, you just need to turn to your opponent and say "You're dead."

-- By Jim from Madison, WI on July 22, 2009

***** You use this card with stiffle.counter the trigger ability of sacing the creatures

-- By Colby from california on July 19, 2009

***** Ancient tomb-tap-> lightning greaves. 2nd turn- blue mana- tap blue and tomb- dreadnaught and stifle. 12/12 trample haste cant be targeted, 2nd turn. Love it.

-- By Dave C from Clarks Summit, Pa, USA on May 24, 2009

**** stiffle is great i must try it , Ive been using "cranial plating" in my artifact "nuts and bolts" deck with aurok salvager!

-- By tim from richwoods, Mo on May 18, 2009

***** Dreadnought + Stifle or Trickbind = winner winner chicken dinner.

-- By Anonymous from STL, MO USA on April 01, 2009

***** ok.......this is a real card? well plenty of cards can easily dismantle a stupid artifact/creature. come on now? Ooopppps way to go WotC ..... stifle and trickbind

-- By what where they thinking? from a previous garbage card without Mask on February 23, 2009

***** 1st turn mana crypt Mox jet Mountain Tap mana crypt for Mask & dreadnought the tap mountain for red for reskless charge hehehehe... then tap mox dark ritual, demonic consultation for rite of consumption... Can you say first turn AMEN?! LOL!

-- By Cheesy from Philippines on February 05, 2009

***** Pandaemonium.

-- By Anonymous from So on October 19, 2008

***** soooooooooo sick..........he needs a doctor.........but it looks like he's eaten everything on the planet except for that little dude with the gun. This card can be part of a serious contender vintage deck. Discard anyone? You can't draw like a mad man anymore for ONE blue mana to get ALLLLLLL those counters........OUCH !

-- By Anonymous from NJ on July 02, 2008

***** One Word, one card: Pandemonium. It may not be the fastest kill, but it'll work.

-- By Anonymous from ME, USA on May 26, 2008

***** What about chrome mox mate -that makes it turn one. :)

-- By DudeAmaze from uk on January 12, 2008

**** Phyrexian Dreadnaught + Illusionary Mask = BULLET TO THE HEAD! good game.

-- By Dustin Ethridge from Dacula, GA USA on August 13, 2007

***** stifle guy is right. Card can dominate with that combo. props to that guy

-- By MAtt from Phila, Pa, USA on July 16, 2007

**** now to this card...hey people, five words, DOUBLING SEASON AND SUMMONING STATION, put two 2/2's into play each turn, if mycosynth lattice and clock of omens are out, then just tap the pinchers to create INFINITE 2/2's AND THROW OUT THE DREADNOUGHT...overkill to the max

-- By Paradox from Im The Shadows On The Walls on November 09, 2006

***** By itself, Phyrexian Dreadnought is a great card, but with Archbound Ravager this thing can become a 24/24 with trample that costs one and has no downside! (you just need 11 other artifacts too)

-- By Sage of the order from Order Headquarters on November 26, 2005

***** 12/12 card!I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!Very good!

-- By boris chiu from hong kong on December 29, 2004

**** Tried for yrs, this is what I ended up with: mono green deck, pay the 1 and let the"Dreadnought"s go to UR graveyard, use "Elvish Piper" to bring in a "Sutured Ghoul", if U have 2 or 3 "Dreadnought"s in UR graveyard for the "Ghoul" it's usually over next turn. "Survival of the Fittest" makes everthing go smoother.-bear-

-- By john rieker from va bch, va usa on November 27, 2004

**** this card would push my spectral stampede deck of constant painflow to the edge with gaea's liege and hopefully a divine card (plz give me both ) my all round trampelling deck of forests only weakness is flying and don't u worry i've got a few hundred dollars waiting to try and help me improve all 5 of my decks and this card would do just that (hey i would'nt mind if my whole wish list was granted) the other thing that will make u started wetting your seat and crying on your cards is that my most expensive (to get into play) card is a 6forest and my weakest card is a 5/5 card costing 1 forest so prepare to meet your doom when facing my infinetly powerful deck

-- By Tama Jet from Canberra ACT Australia on October 22, 2004

***** 2nd turn Dreadnought, Just cast dreadnought on the second turn for one mana, and then for one blue mana cast "stifle" to counter the triggered "comes into play ability" for another mana so you dont have to sac any creatures and you now have a 12/12 trample on the 2nd turn.

-- By Aaron Pehl from Somewhere, USA on September 23, 2004

***** I was wrong. The Phyrexian Colossus was not the strongest artifact creature, this skittering, adorable little guy is (I know). The unstable shapeshifter is also excellent to use. The card would also be such a blow to the opponent if he/she has the Krosan Cloudscraper and everything else is lower. Besides, if that case is there, you bring down the adorable Dreadnought, pay 1, and the game is practically yours after that.

-- By Polo Contreras from Mexico City, MEXICO on November 25, 2003

***** You can get it out on turn two with stiffle, without sacrificing anything. you retards.

-- By the saint of killers from boot-hill cemetary on October 27, 2003

***** Just think about the combo with the mask... Ok pretty unbeatable right? Now think of a cheaper way to get the hugenought on the table...Stifle enough said. Turn 2 that's what happens when you counter the coming into play ability. Have fun and pick up stifles before they hit unreasonable prices soon! as well as the dreadnought

-- By Dreamz from Iowa on September 23, 2003

***** if you would happen to have sliver queen, ashnod's altar, and heartstone in play when you played this, the 1 mana and the 12 creatures wouldn't be a problem. same with voice of the woods and intruder allert. bam. 12/12 trample for one with infinite creatures. whats better?

-- By Bob Hope from buttmonkeyville on September 06, 2003

***** I use this card with gravepact(everytime one of you creatures goes to the gravyard each other player sacs a creature) so that if my opponent has a huge army of fatties, i'll just sac a dozen 1/1's and make each opponent sac 12 creatures.

-- By JEFF GOTTSTEIN from Anchorage AK USA on December 31, 2002

***** It is a very great card, and i think it is easy to use.

-- By Anonymous from USA on November 08, 2002

***** This is the most powerful card in the game but with a serious drawback ,but, if you bring out a 1 costing 1/1 for every mana you have , in 5 turns you'll be 2 creatures handy over 12, but if you have Lifeline (urzas saga) you'll get all the creatures back, boo-yah! another thing you can do is use the unstable shapeshifter; another 5 turn combo. but as the first technique is better.

-- By Anonymous from USA on October 20, 2002

***** Two words (1 card), Illusionary Mask! It combos perfectly with Phyrexian Dreadnought! 1st turn: Play Swamp, Dark Ritual, Illusionary Mask, PHYREXIAN DREADNOUGHT! ATTACK FOR 12 2ND TURN! The best combo (in my opinion) in the world.

-- By JackBlack_JB from Hudson, NH USA on October 07, 2002

***** see the key here is to take small creatures and pump em up with until end of turn boosts, then sac em to get this cute lil bug...*pets it*...did i mention it's a 12/12 trample?

  -- By Lethal from Lancaster,PA on April 28, 2002

*** This is a pretty good card since you can do a Unstable Shapeshifter/ Phyrexian Dreadnought combo so you only have to sac 1 cheap creature instead of a few fatties.

-- By Duriel25 from Fountain Hills, AZ on April 24, 2002

***** This card is absolutely the best mtg card available to the public! I say buy buy buy!

-- By Joe Fisher from Mississippi on April 13, 2002
