The hippo is indeed fantastic for multiplayer magic. Do note that while the tokens and life gain mandatory, the card drawing is optional. Also..PURPLE HIPPO WITH WINGS.

There is no other card in the entire game that can single handedly control a multiplayer game like this thing. It can block those big Mortivores for days. It can save someone from dying. It can "Surprise kill" an attacking creature by throwing tokens to block for the defender. It pumps Kavu Predator. It's almost impossible to kill outside of Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile. It can draw someone into an answer like Counterspell or Putrefy to stop someone from winning. With a Sword of Light and Shadow equiped its nearly unstoppable. And when you need to kill someone? "You're at 12? Ok. I tap a blue and 8 green. Pump Hippo 8 times and jump it over the blockers. Take 12." And for really long games: "Whats you Library count? 20? Ok, I play Hippo and pass turn...At your end step draw 9 cards. On my turn I untap and make you draw 12 more. You die." It might be the most skill intensive card in Magic for a 4+ player game. And to top it all off IT'S A PURPLE HIPPO WITH GRIFFIN WINGS NAMED PHELDAGRIF and yes, this stupid thing is going to make you look silly when it destroys you.

It's a friggin PURPLE HIPPO with WINGS that generates HIPPO TOKENS (on your opponent's side of the field sadly...).
