At first glance, Breath of Life seems like a 3 or 4 star card. However, the true power of this card is revealed in combination with Mercenary Knight and Archangel. On turn three, drop a Mercenary Knight and discard the Archangel from your hand. Next turn, cast Breath of Life. You will now have a 4/4 land creature and 5/5 Flying, does not tap to attack creature in play by turn four! This card is really strong for Portal Players. -- By Paul Tirocchi from Cranston, RI USA on May 08, 2002 |

What kind of a magic: The Gathering Rookie would not have this card in his/her hand. I mean put a 50/50 card down and even if it does get destroyed. You just play this card bodabing bodaboom he's back. It's a good idea to keep a few in your deck and maybe a multiple spell to use it a few times possibly a fork. -- By Cameron from Spirit Lake, ID USA on December 15, 2002 |

I would say this card is actually better than Resurrection or Zombify. Resurrection has exactly the same converted mana cost and effect, but it costs WW to play as opposed to W for Breath of Life, which makes it harder to splash in a deck that isn't mono-white. On the other hand, Zombify is exactly the same as Breath of Life but with a different color, but graveyard recursion is common in black, not so much in white, making decks with Breath of Life more versatile. -- By Will B.
