How can this card work if there is a pay 1 white, and tap it to gain +0/+3? Honestly, how good can this be if you can't use the ability except aginst a fireball, or damage of this kind since you can't use it while it is taped? Waste of a good piece of paper if you ask me. 
You can declare it as a blocking creature in combat, and then activate it's ability to make it 1/6. Ok, it's still weak, but maybe not as weak as people may think... Your Rights :
