**** Overlooked, overlooked, OVERLOOKED! The Javelineers are the perfect example of just how complex and involving a set Fallen Empires is. Most of the high profile one-drops in the game are straightforward in their uses- a Basking Rootwalla is powerful because it is free to cast when discarded, and Carrion Feeder should always be attacking and cannibalizing your troops to get bigger. However, the Icatian Javelineers are white's version of Mogg Fanatic and then some. Sure, you can't sac them to deal a point of damage after attacking, but you can block and deal a point of lethal damage to another creature in combat. Even better, you can pick off any one toughness creature without sacrificing them. Combine this with Crystal Shard for even more fun- for less than the cost of a Prodigal Sorcerer (one white to cast them and a blue to activate the Shard) you can have a reusable small tactical nuke. Like so many other Fallen Empires cards, the Javelineers were designed so that their mere PRESENCE affects the game board. I haven't even bothered to mention that they get along pretty well with the stellar soldiers from later sets and Coat of Arms.
