Hoard Scarab Larva Swarm #26 Legendary Evils D&D Miniatures

Despite what a different reviewer said, this is certainly not a bad mini. I firmly believed this was specifically designed for use in Role Playing as a large pile of gold. Such a piece is really invaluable; there are no indications that this pile of treasure is anything BUT treasure; there are no legs or eyes on any of the "Scarab larva" and there are small symbols on each that help maintain the illusion of gold pieces. Just imagine a party working their way through a dungeon, and suddenly this comes into view; perhaps guarded by a powerful monster or suspiciously piled on top of a circle of mystical runes. This is a piece that will instantly grab everyone's attention, bringing out the best (or worst!) in a party as they attempt to get at it. As a "swarm" piece, it is lackluster; as a pile of gold, it has limitless possibilities!

This is a cool mini. It truly looks like a pile of gold coins. You can't tell from the pix, but the scarabs have a very shiny gold metallic paint. Each one has a little scribble on top, that looks like coin markings. In fact, there is no visual clue whatsoever that these are bugs or animals (no legs, arms, heads, etc.). You can easily drop this on a tile to mark a treasure hoard or loot location.
