I use him as my mono-black commander in EDH. Thousand Year Elixir and/or Thornbite Staff and you get a TON of rats :)

One thing comes to mind when I look at this baddie... Thornbite Staff! Make unlimited 1/1 rat tokens provided you have 3 in play (Including Marrow). Combine with something like Grave Pact for board control, or even Deathgreeter for unlimited life. then murder with Pestilence Rats or Swarm of Rats, though I use Rite of Consumption as a backup

well, 4 swarm of rats 4 gnawers and a bunch of other rats in a deck just keep getting more rats and power up your swarm of rats ,i have always boycotted relentless rats ,they break the true spirit of mtg, and that is to combine cards to make a good deck ,anyway the rats nest premade deck has a urzwemas jitte in it and no marrow gnawwer ...anyway i think this card really pulled together black creatues, and all your rats get fear and since black creatures arent very common fear really is important.

This card is great. It goes especially well with mercadian masques' conspiracy enchantment. I love it. I managed to get out over a hundred of these little rats.
