Why it is good
Remand isn''t as much of a counterspell as it is a way for you to exploit when your opponent uses most of his or her mana to cast a single spell on a turn. You "bounce" that spell back to their hand, undoing their big spell for that turn while also getting to draw a card off the top of your deck. This creates a huge tempo loss for your opponent - imagine if you just countered your opponent''s 4-drop on their turn 4, and now they can''t cast any spells that turn while you got to draw an extra card? That''s the power of Remand.Of course, Counterspell just flat-out counters your opponent''s spell and sends it to the graveyard, but think of Remand as more of a tempo card - it stops your opponent from casting a big spell for one turn while drawing you a card, giving you a huge tempo advantage over your opponent - while Counterspell is more like a removal spell. In that sense, you could think of Remand as an oddball Time Walk.Without having played too much with Remand myself, I think it''s probably a really good card in blue control match-ups. With control, you can make sure you get your planeswalker down before your opponent if you Remand their planeswalker when they try to cast it, and then follow up with your own planeswalker on the following turn. Remand also helps dig further into your library to help you find the spells you need in order to win the game. It''s probably less good against aggro decks because they tend to have a lot of cheap spells, so they more often than not won''t be as set back by Remand as a control deck (because the control deck generally tries to win with more expensive cards).- And by the way, now that Khans of Tarkir is out, Remanding a big Delve spell after your opponent has exiled cards from his or her graveyard in order to cast it would be extremely powerful.

memory lapse is decent, but nowhere near as good as remand, no card advantage

No one sees the true potential of this card. I mean serious, why counter their spells? Why not counter your brain freeze add more storm count and draw the card! This card cracked Solidarity in half!

You're a n00b. Remand has been called the best card in standard several times. It's like a Time Walk. You counter their spell, draw a card to replace the Remand that was in your hand and 9 times out of 10, they're done and you take your turn.

Remand is the best counter T2 has seen for years.

Great Card that is pure tempo. Also destroys suspend (although not quite as much as teferi).

Hardly overrated. For two mana (one of them colorless), not only do you "save yourself for a turn", you also draw a card. Played correctly, you've now delayed your opponent's development, potentially forced him to discard, and retained hand size for yourself.

There's a reason this puppy is sold out everywhere. It is quite literally the best blue counterspell available in Standard, trumped only by the U/G "Voidslime." It's the one Blue, one colorless that really puts it over the edge.

The only other Standard counterspell that even comes close for me is "Rewind," since it rebates your mana back to you. On the other hand, you need four mana, two of them blue, to bring it out of the gate in the first place. It's best suited for a heavy control deck. "Remand" works just as well at a beatdown pace.

Awsome card all around, no its not better than a normal "counterspell" in casual but its still pretty good. And those who give it one star obviously have no knowledge of "types" in mtg.. If you dont mind dropping the cash, a playset of these will serve you well.. Not as good as when Ravnica was the fresh new set.. but if they ever re-print these you will already have a playset of a metagame changing card.

Was good and disruptive before Time Spiral, But now with the disruption of not only suspend and flashback, it's GREAT. Only a 4 IMO, but well worth the money. If you can afford it, get a full playset, this card will be playable till it rotates out of Extended, and then it will possibly see play in Vintage or Classic.

It can be good, and can be bad. I can see how it works with control-combo style decks, letting you bounce spells, and possibly your own, with the benefit of drawing a card. In the early game, I see it as more powerful than in the late...But that extra turn could definitely make the difference with the extra card.

Remand was a staple while it was in Standard rotation. It remains good in Extended, but it especially shines when going against low margin, aggro or combo decks, as the hit in tempo really hurts. Great when you are winning, it can help you get an important spell through, but on the losing side, you'd wish you were packing something with a bit more punch.

overrated. You play this you draw a card, you save a turn, the spell will only save you for a turn

These fake counterspells just make me laugh! I have yet to hear an intelligent, defendable reason to use something like this instead of one of the real counterspells. Why waste your time and mana "countering" a spell only to have it go right back to your opponent's hand? All you have really done is give your opponent another chance to play it. Meanwhile you get to draw a card and hope like hell it's something useful, not a remand or memory lapse. No logical person has ever thought "I really wish I was holding a remand instead of this counterspell".

To those guys giving this card 5 stars must have not heard of Memory Lapse. And that was a common card!
