a really easy way to get this card into play quickly is a mixture of Dark Rituals and Demonic Tutors. There's no way you wont have him out early with this combo. Say on a very lucky occasion you got 3 dark rituals, Mephidross, and one swamp. drop one dark ritual, then another, then another. Just like that you have Mephidross out on turn one. Of course you'd have to be lucky to get that combo, but it's possible. And since they dropped the mana burn rule, the leftover mana doesn't matter.

Obvious game-winner combo is Triskelion and Mephidross, but there are many other insane combo's like Plague Spitter or Thrashing Wumpus and Mephidross. When they do their 1 damage to each creature they get that many +1/+1 counters with Mephidross in play pumping them up to insane levels in no time. Or in red Scalding Salamander, Ronin Cliffrider, Magma Giant, Fire Ants, Kumano Master Yamabushi or even timmy's or Laccolith's as long as Mephidross is in play they get insane.

Another good combo. Get it on the field with Mirrodin's Triskelion and start killing. Even better, Get two Meph Vampires on the field for double the counters, eventually going for lethal direct damage. A tournament winner!

This is the best card for a vampire deck, because it doubles the abilities of most vampires. Not to mention giving those abilities to everything you control. Just a simple combo example: Mephidross Vampire, and Vampiric Dragon in play. Tap 1R to deal one damage to a creature with Vampiric Dragon, put a +1/+1 counter on Vampiric Dragon. Wonderful card. Things don't have to die, like with most vampires, the just have to be damaged which makes things like Sengir Vampire gain a counter no matter what.

It's all about it's static ability!!! It's the vampire ability on crack due to the fact that it's not "Whenever a creature dealt damage this turn by 'This' is put into a graveyard, put a +1/+1 counter..." It's soo much more efficient. A Flying 3/4 body for 6CMC isn't great, but atleast it's out of Lightning Bolt range and it gives itself it's own ability.

Awesome flavor, okay body, but I don't see this being in Tournaments since most decks can kill by turn 4-6. It dominates casual play though.

A 3/4 even with flying, Mephidross Vampire's subability is useless without other large creatures to back it up. A 6 CMC spell should be very swingy to be competitive, and mephi here just isn't efficient enough to appear outside of a fun them deck.
