I am not sure where people are getting the idea that this comes into play tapped. That is not what summoning sickness means. It simply means you can't tap it the turn it comes into play. Check the rules.

I enjoy these very much in Finite deck builds... My best deck using these is G/B Deck with Exploration and/or Burgeoning and Horn of Greed, Dark Ritual, Sinkhole, Strip Mine. Not a single creature "spell" in the deck, all man-lands backed up with Pernicious Deeds to sweep the board. Might put Crucible of Worlds back in, but don't want to pull apart Zuran, Crucible, Fastbond combo deck.

As someone already stated, the real value of this card is in its combination of types. One such abuse is a turn 3 infinite mana combo. Since this card is both a creature and a land, it can be enchanted by both Freed from the Real and Fertile Ground, setting up an ideally turn 3 infinite green mana. If you also have a mana reflection in hand, that's infinite of any color. The main downside, of course, is applying this vast amount of mana, and the annoying fact that is is extremely easy to bolt, doomblade, etc.

I think the real upshot of this card is that it counts as a forest. wood elves windswept heath and the like put this guy directly into play. Mana ramp now includes creature acceleration, and after that all you need is overrun.

Free Llanowar Elves, how great is that! If only it didn't come into play tapped. Shoot for treetop village if you can.

Dude, free Llanowar Elves, although it is a bit easier to destroy. Put a Darksteel Garrison on it and its an Indestructible creature/land that gives itself +1/+1 whenever it attacks. Damnation and Wrath of god can kiss my butt.

I think this is better than Treetop village for a few reasons. First, suffering from summoning sickness is not the same as coming in tapped, because you can still use it to block if needed. Second, you don't have to spend mana to turn it into a creature, and let's face it, a 3-3 trample is not going to make the difference between winning and losing. Third, and most important, is that by putting a Fertile Ground and Freed from the real on this, you can produce infinite mana. Not so with the Treetop Village. Dryad Arbor is just plain better all around!

It's basically a sucky treetop village; it might as well come into tapped cuz it has summoning sickness and therefore its activated abilities can't be used when it comes into play for the first turn. And you can't shok/magma spray a treetop village. it turns all of your needle drops (if you're that desperate for burn spells) into stone rains, which...is pretty nice. just remember, y'all: treetop village. not this.
