Despotic Scepter

Oh My God. I didn't know this existed! I've been a pretty casual player and always thought there should be cards like this. Something cheap to get rid own your own stuff. This card doesn't blow. What blows is when you're running an artifact deck and someone psychic Venom's your land and keeps using twiddles and imprinted twiddles. Or when someone takes your Collossus. This card is full of win. I haven't had to have 12 copies of a card so much since I found out about Pact of Negation.

It says "own", not "control". This card is clearly meant to stop control decks.

This card is actually useful in the right situations. Take a seasinger and phantasmal terrain. Turn one of the opponent's lands into an island. Tap the seasinger and take control of a creature. Tap a mana and despotic scepter and bury it. Repeat. Cheap creature destruction. Instead of the scepter, there are many good black cards out there that do the same thing but with more benefits. Try victimize, or Crovax the Cursed. In an all-blue deck, though, despotic scepter works just as well.

well, i read the other reviews before mine and it kinda' surprised me not to see the preeminent oldy goldy of this card and 'stasis.' well, maybe not GReatly surprised as 'stasis' is probably one of the most hated cards in MTG. but it and 'despotic sceptor' make a very cheap(mana wise) combo that is relatively easy to pull off...........

um yeah...this card blows.
