Shield of the Ages

i really don't like defensive cards that have no offensive side to them. i'm always about pushing the deck theme(s) and trying to win with every available slot. so cards like 'shield of the ages' don't really see the light of day when i'm playing MTG competitively. that being said, i sometimes like to throw one or two cards of this ilk into the mix, just to throw my opponent off balance. one of these babies in my "brown" deck should be sustainable especially with its great mana base. and it can frustrate the heck out of your opponent especially when it doesn't target and you can pump 10, 20, 30 mana into it. so cards like the aforementioned and , say, 'urza's armor' , are always a bit of funfuns. as i've said before, its a great big metagame out there, so why not dance with everyone at least once? you'll never know what you're missing until you take a step up..........................
