Silence

This card is very good early game, not so good late game though unlike Orim's Chant which is good all the time.

Note: You can't play this spell before the player untaps because nobody gets priority during that step so nothing can be played. All triggered abilities will be put on the stack but held until the upkeep.

Orim's Chant is better, but not standard legal right now. Take it for what it is, which is good standard white control.

even if chant is better this card is still very good.

Josh from Arkansas, last time I checked, the untap step came before the upkeep step. Did they change it recently?

Good in turbo fog or anything else that needs to stall.

The kicker on Chant is hard to beat; however, I also like that Silence isn't a "targeting" spell.

In 1-on-1 games, this card can pretty much work like a time walk. Play it just as your opponent starts his turn, and very often he will have nothing to do and it will be your turn again. 5 stars, no question! I got one in a booster and now I'm gonna order 3 more from here. They always have good prices, and this is one of the only sites I ever bother ordering from. Thanks again TrollandToad.

Uh... Jesse? There will NEVER be a card or a combo in MtG that doesn't have some sort of response. Silence-on-a-stick is a very, VERY good example of a kickass combo - and if there was no response to it, it would be banned. The point is, if you pull off silence-on-a-stick, it will lock your opponent down and thus FORCE them to run a card to disrupt that combo.

this card is good. But if your using a septer your better servered using orms chant with kicker. Meanwhile this card is a perfect fit with any weenie deck to buy you an extra swarming turn.

Oh baby! Never have the first few turns been as important as they are now. This is a game changer. Every deck with white mana NEEDS 4!

Wow.... Isochron Scepter + Silence = 2 mana lockdown. AWESOME!

Orim's chant is ALOT better...

It's a nice card but remember, it doesn't stop them until it resolves. If they have the mana for it, they're going to stack any instants and creatures with flash right on top of it. Best played during they're upkeep before they untap or during your turn when you can't afford for them to respond to you.
