DescriptionEighth Edition (Core Set) has at least one card from every expansion since Alpha, making the total number of this expansion 357 premium cards. This is a 2 player starter deck tournament box containing 2 decks of 30 cards. This is all you need for you and a friend to start playing Magic the Gathering.

Of the 357 cards in the 8th Edition Core Set, the most famous cards are: Underworld Dreams, Avatar Of Hope, and Blinding Angel.

This is a great starter set for anyone. I got it to have 2 decks to duel friends with, since both should be same power, and to teach anyone else how to play. Both decks are rather basic, but still can be used for a nice simple duel. The guide gives nice step-by-step instruction in an easy to read guide. The first duel follows the guide part of the way, after the first few turns it lets the players make their own moves. At the end it lists the order of the cards so you can reply the first duel. The advanced back had 8 new card for each deck that used some more advanced elements not in the deck original (artifacts, abilities, ect).
The CD has a downloadable Learn to Play computer game of magic, but after 1 game it gets rather repetitive. It also can install magic online from it. The fact the CD still worked on a newer computer is a bonus in itself. The premium card it came with for me, which I think is the same for everyone, is Elvish Champion, which is worth more than the starter deck! The only bad part was that it is nearly exactly the same as the 9th edition starter, besides a few cards and bonuses. I made reviews for both, so check the other review to help you decide which is better.

First of all this isn't a deck like some of these other people said. It's a started pack. it contains 2 30 card mini decks so you and a friend can learn to play the game. This was probably the second starter pack a bought, and it does it's job to teach you to play. so that alone i believe should get it 5 stars. It also comes with the game Magic The Gathering Online along with a code to give you the cards that came in the box. zThose two reasons are good but the best one is that it containes Elvish Champion; it's a 2/2 creature lord that gives all elves +1/+1 and forest walk (if oppojnet controlls any forests they are unblockable). Elvish champoin is a really nice card to have in an elf deck. they remade the card and changed some things on it and that confused one of my friends because he now thinks it gives itself the +1/+1 bonus however it doesn't it sais all "OTHER" elves. You can buy Elvish Champoin for about $10 at your card shop or you can buy this, get the Elvish Champion, and even more cards for $6.49 on this site at the time i wrote this. Personaly im planing on buying a few more of these for the elf decks i want to make.

This is the only pack I have boughten (except that I trade for elven cards), and it is the best. There are cards you need to start an all-star deck in here like the Elvish Champion. It gives all elves +1/+1 and forest walk. Also the Enourmus Bealoth. Great way to start off your deck.

An excellent deck, for either a beginer or a player looking to expand their colection. Great cards like the 7/7 Enormous Baloth, this is a must have.

I This deck is alright. It's not the best one that I've bought.
