Loved the box! It contains lots of good and well balanced cards. I got the Wrath of God in the 4th booster I opened, and that wasn't the only (though it was the best) rare card I got. I am more than pleased with this; it feels like I got all of the really greatest of cards. So I would really recommend this box for the starter player, and I would also really recommend TrollAndToad.com as a retailer. (And also, ofcourse, FedEx for their fast and reliable delivery.)

Totally agree with the guy above me, great set, great cards, but reprints are getting a little old.

Don't believe this person above me. Ninth edition is a great and well put together set that includes cards that are great for learning the basics of the game and other cards that veterans can respect. Classics and new cards are included. Great Core Set.

I heartily agree with the first reviewer; this (or rather, 7th and onward) would be much more enjoyable if the art were only worth beans...

I agree with the 2 guys above me but I rated this set a 3 because I bought 2 boxes and got so many duplicate "RARES" that I was very dissapointed.

where to begin my complaint? my lament? well, i've just scanned over the complete card list of '9th,' and what a depressing experience that was. even more so than when '8th' edition came out with its crappy makeover. with '8th', gone were the unique signature look of each and every card since MTG came out. instead, it was now incorporated to look like every generic set that would popularize itself with merchandising and kid's t.v. shows(pokemon, yu-gi-goh, vs. system, etc,etc.....) now the complete dearth of ideas, novelty, or any spark of originality. kinda like a rolling stones tour of the same old music ...."dance mix" or "freebird" . god, am i that old?! hell, maybe time has passed me by. sucks. but hell, i don't mind others picking up the torch and doing a better job than myself. please, pretty please!! richard garfield we miss thee. or someone. well, to recap for all the fanboys out there, 'hypnotic spector' is legal in type two. now that IS kinda intriguing. the rest? well, unless you're playing for bigs bucks on the tour.....*yawn* the 'portal' cards have seguyed in. with, for the most part, crappier artwork. get the originals. new artwork on some of the cards if zenmasters out there are looking for a different kinda' stroke. anyway, count me out daddy-o......................
