Duels of the Planeswalkers Thoughts of the Wind Intro Deck (MTG)

I think if you're looking for a deck to play without any additions or subtractions, this isn't exactly the deck for you. But I don't really know anyone, including casual players, who just buy a starter/intro deck and never alter it again. This is a great buy if you're thinking of using the cards to build a solid blue deck off of. Make some alterations - take some cards out, put some in, and you've got an incredible arsenal! I built a blue "no" deck based around a couple of cards from this deck and it was a huge success.

I don't agree with the guy above me. I happen to think Thieving Magpie, Bommerang, Counterbore, Evacuation, Mind Control, Mind Spring are all great cards. I'm a new player just starting out and this was a nice way for me to work on my collection and have preconstructed decks that is easier to play than the theme decks. So maybe these are meant for new players but those teaching me how to play have been playing for years. They say these decks are great for casual magic and we have a fantastic time. Not everything is about competition but I win with this deck against the other Duel Decks all the time.

Jay here, of the preconstructed-MtG blog ErtaisLament.com... If you're reading this and considering buying this deck, you're either a new player or a collector. I've acquired all five for review, and I have to say that this one is easily the worst of the bunch (if, like me, you're a collector, you'll just have to suck it up and buy it anyway).

At its core, this deck doesn't really seem to know what it wants to do: control or critter. Consequently, it sends up doing neither particularly well, and the card selection and interactions it has are truly underwhelming. Add in a rather poorly-thought out mana curve, and it will match its blandness in poor performance.

On the upside, I can say that the price Troll and Toad is offering here is a bargain. If you're only going to get one Duels of the Planeswalk decks, I'd recommend Nissa Revane's 'Ears of the Elves,' but either way, you can't say we didn't try to warn you!
