POSSIBLE combo use
I just wanna run this in a Black Green deck using liliana defiant necromancers emblem. Hear me out. Run her, use free sacrificing, golgari germination or similar effect, and reassembling skeleton. Get this out too asap. You can stack golgari germination. Liliana emblem steals every creature that dies. Obviously not tokens, but tokens are pumped by sacrificing. Bloodflow connoiseur is sacrificer. You sac a mon. Gain say 2 saps off of 2 germinations. Doubles to 4. Gain 2 counters on conn. Now you bring back reassembling skeleton for 2 mana. You sac him. You sac him over and over, every turn pumping loads of tokens out. Running requiem angel will turn all saps into flyers. Tho honestly over the top, this is my real life strategy lol. Its a beaut of an idea for this card :)

Beautiful card for an Eldrazi deck. The Spawn come out in droves because of this little gem. One of my personal favorites.

you ppl missed the whole true effects of the card its says if an effect would cause you to put COUNTER OR TOKEN into play double that effect. well if you have 2 in play would that not mean that they themselves are an "effect" so would not 1 set the other off and in fact you have infinite the effect. makes you think doesn't it!!

This card DOES actually affect creatures that come into play with tokens, meaning this card absolutely breaks hydras... I run a green/red mono-hydra deck with four of these and four Braid of Fires, meaning the age counters that generate you mana are also doubled. Modulars are also broken with this card. Not only does it double the number of counters the Arcbounds come in with, but when you move them to another artifact after the creature is destroyed, they get doubled AGAIN. Mono-green modular decks anyone?

This card combined with paradox haze and some Saproling producing thallids is mean. You would get two maybe four sarolings a turn just from one but if you have two or three and Sporoloth Ancient, it would easily overwhelm your opponent!!

Man, wish I have this card for my elf deck with Jorga Warcaller, who have the ability of multikicker to put +1/+1 counter for each time it was kicked as well as having the ability to give my other elves getting +1/+1 for each counter that he have with Immaculate Magistrate, who have the ability to tap to give +1/+1 counter for each elves I control on target creature, and finally with Imperious Perfect, who also have tap effect to play one 1/1 elf token, if I have that enchantment, that means that every turn I get two elves tokens and an ever-increasing +1/+1 counter that is being doubled for my Jorga Warcaller, which all of my elves gets the same power-ups as him as well, THEY WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!!

This is every Plainswalker's favorite season. I had this and a Jace, the Mind sculpter in play on turn 2 and it was game over for my opponent.

One combo I've pondered (and drooled) over is to have 2 of this card in play, 2 scions of the wild, and 2 mercy killings. Assuming both Scions of the Wild are 10/10's (ie, you have 10 creatures) then mercy kill one scion of the wild. You now get 10, wait 20, wait 40 1/1 white and green elf tokens. Now if that's not enough to sweat out your opponents, use the second mercy killing on the second scion of the wild (now about a 50/50). Now you add 50, wait, 100, wait 200 1/1 elf tokens, for a grand total of 240 1/1 elf tokens. If that's not enough for epic's sake, have a coat of arms out. now all those 1/1 elf tokens have supersized to 240/240's. If for some reason this is still not enough, use Dryad's Caress to instantly gain 250 life. Or if you want to be more cruel, use biorhythm. You now have about 250 life while everyone else has not even 20. Epic win.

NOTION to those who hype about planeswalkers!! Only if an effect would put counters on a permanant, it doubles it, planeswalkers enter with counters, so no noubling, I'm afraid. Still a SICK card

Imagine, 4 of these with mycoloth, first you would devour say 4 tokens, well you would put 8, no, 16, no, 32, no 64, no 128 +1/+1 counters on him, then every turn after, you would put into play 128, no 256, no 512, no 1024, no 2048 saprolings into play.

Great card! I am using it in a casual WUBRG deck focusing on WRG with plenty of mana accel and tri mana.

Greater Auramancy protects all the fancy enchantments from being destroyed. Doubling Season sits on back burner for a while. Mayael's Aria also sits back. Soul Foundry imprinted with Ornithopter pumps out double tokens (Clock of Omens allows you to tap 2 of these untapped thopters once they're created to untap the Soul Foundry and create more thopters).

Once you've got some thopters (aka dinner) out, you bring out Mycoloth and have it devour. Due to Doubling season it gets FOUR +1/+1 counters per creature it devours. Next turn, Mayael's Aria triggers at upkeep and puts another +1/+1 on all creatures you control (now 2 +1/+1 due to doubling season) and also makes you gain 10 life since mycoloth is likely more than 10/10 by now. Due to Doubling Season Mycoloth also produces twice as many saproling tokens as it has +1/+1 counters.

Amazingly fun combo. Very explosive. I've also got Oona, Queen of Fae in that deck, which will not only mill your opponent for X, but will put out between 0 to X UB fairy tokens with flying (now doubled for each doubling season).

How about this:

Spincrusher -- 2 mana of any color
0/2
Artifact Creature
Ability #1: Whenever Spincrusher blocks, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
Ability #2: Remove a +1/+1 counter from Spincrusher: Spincrusher is unblockable this turn.

Now combine that with 4x Energy Chamber:
Energy Chamber -- 2 mana of any color
At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one - Put a +1/+1 counter on target artifact creature; or put a charge counter on target noncreature artifact.

Now add 4x Dragon Blood:
Dragon Blood -- 3 mana of any color
{3}, {T}: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.

...And add 4x Doubling Season
Spincrusher blocks: 16x +1/+1 counter
4x Energy Chamber: 64x +1/+1 counter
4x Dragon Blood: 64x +1/+1 counter

that's at least +128/+128 PER TURN
Oh, and remember it's second ability? Yeah, remove 1 counter and you win.
Oh yeah, it's that sweet.

Doubling Season should be played in every Fungus deck alongside Mycoloth. It doubles the amount of Spore counters on your Fungus creatures, and doubles the amount of Saprolings your Fungus creatures produce!

Also, Doubling Season works like a charm alongside Planeswalkers, doubling their Loyalty counters as they enter play. Most Planeswalkers will be all set and ready to fire off their "ultimate" as soon as they enter the battlefield, provided that you have Doubling Season in play.

hmm.. 1 with mylicoth turns him into a double spawner with devour 4 with two he quad spawns devour 8 and I think that you can see where this is going also if four are out in a thalid deck each thalid gets 16 counters a turn that become 80 1/1 creatures for mylicoth to devour. now play coat of arms.

Problem I keep reading within your reviews: Creatures that come into play with counters already on them don't feel those pretty effects, I fear, only when you place a counter on a creature already in play. Still, if you're using any form of token or counter deck, there's always room for it.

Planeswalkers - need I say more?
They come into play with twice the counters ... usually enough to do their super-special in the same turn

e.g. Elspeth = 2WW for "Until end of game all artifact, land, creature and enchantment permanent's you control are indestructible"

The review before the one before this one is wrong. This card does double counters as well. +1/+1 counters do get doubled, as well as tokens. Any kind of counters, any kind of tokens.

Do you know what else gets doubled? Planeswaker counters. Now considering most planeswalkers' final ability... Oh yeah, and the initial start count is doubled. Like Chandra normally comes into play with 6 right? Nope, comes into play with 12. You can use the final ability right off the bat.

I just faced off against such a deck in Magic Online. I lost without realizing it until the end once I saw 13 counters on chandra and 8 on Jace the turn after they're played.

This card does not double counters (such as +1/+1 counters from effect, or charge counters on Orochi Hatchery, or amount of life or damage from a Honden), it only doubles the amount of creature tokens being put into play.

That been tell, with Planeswalker it really work but i will explain why... Chandra Nalaar = 10 damage to target player and all creature he/she control. Liliana Vess = put all creature in all graveyards on you control. Garruk Wildspeaker = +3/3 trample until and the turn for all creature you control and this -1 ability give you 2 3/3 beast tokens. Ajani Goldmane = 2 tokens avatar = */* to your life and this -1 ability give you 2 +1/1 counter on all creature you control. Sarkhan Vol = 10 tokens 4/4 flying. Tezzeret the Seeker = all artifact you control become 5/5 creature until and the turn. Elspeth, Knight-Errant = All permanent you control except Planeswalker are indestructible. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker = 7 damage to target player then he/she sacrifice 7 permanent and discard 7 card. The only Planeswalker i don't mention is Jace Beleren because no use with Doubling season. It why Doubling Season it so great with Planeswalker.

>_> I just luuv how no one thought of it with Plainswalkers so that I could throw out the idea myself.. <_< If you use this with a P-walker it doubles the amount of loyalty counters.. This in an all color P-walker deck with gilderbairns and a bunch of token chump blockers... Whoa! is all I have to say. Also would work good in a Spike deck.. *evil smile*.

Sap deck. Doubling Season. Mycoloth (Alara).

When the ubershroom comes into play, sacrifice any number of creatures you control and it comes into play with 4 +1/+1 counters per sac. Then at the beginning off your upkeep you get 2 sap tokens for each counter.

Then you can throw in coat of arms, and if they somehow have some evil wall-ish thing that can stop your onslaught, play Kresh the Bloodbraided with a Fallen Ideal.

A ridiculously good enchantment.

So what if it doesn't "do anything on its own?" It's an Enchantment. It's a piece of the whole. "The whole" meaning your deck, and in Doubling Season's case, it's a top-tier card due to its unbelievable usefulness in token decks. Anything less than 5 stars is an underrating for this card.

Anyone who thinks that this is an overrated card is simply ignorant. If you have a token deck, you need this card.

I am not going to suggest any more "infinite" combo's with this card, because there are plenty on this page.

Here is a simple creature trick that will use both of it's effects. You can play your "Doubling Season" then play a "Howl of the Night Pack" or **INSERT TOKEN PRODUCING CARD**... and let's say you were normally creating 5 creatures, now you just created 10... obviously (yay I can add). Now, you play "Stag Beetle" who gets a +1/+1 counter for EACH creature in PLAY. Now you WOULD have a 10/10 (plus any creatures your opponent has), but guess what, DOUBLE THE COUNTERS. Now your "5 token creating card" just became a 20/20 creature.

Very good points, better then all of the other stuff in the doubling season combos. Heres a thought though. Spellbook (You have no maximum hand size) and Doubling Season out, then play Endless Swarm (Put a 1/1 green snake creature token for each card in your hand. Epic (For the rest of the game you cant play spells. At the beginning of each upkeep copy this spell without the epic ability). 5 cards in your hand would be 10 1/1 snakes per turn and the ability can go up to infinate because of spellbook.
2xHand Size snakes per turn? i think thats pretty good Also this card is rated 5 stars because of its skill with combos and other stuff

Yeah those are all good ideas... but with planeswalkers (Esp. Garruk) It's one of the best cards in print! Garruk comes into play with six counters on him if you have this in play. Then you remove one counter to get two 3/3's. Or you can use Chandra's last ability when you play her. Or you can up Jace to 10 counters as you play him and mill the next turn. Beautiful.

hippies will rule over all, but ill spell it out. first you see the wardens (soul warden and essence warden). ok your not scared... yet. then come the selesnya evangels and selesnia guildmages, thats when the hippies start (tokens). you dont see the threat till i start buybacking the sprout swarm. as your flooded in the song of selesnya, it gets worse. veridant embraces start start sprouting hippies every upkeep, the twilight drovers call the spirits of the dead hippies to battle, airborn of course, and nemata, grove guardian coordinates the festival. if thats not bad enough, the anthems (glorious anthem and gaea's anthem) ringing in your ears, bloistering the jubilant woodstock. if they dont invite your own to join them (glare of subdual) then there shear numbers will hand them the victory (epic struggle). now try to wrap your mind around that with heart beat of springs and doubling seasons. are you crying yet?

this card is the bomb, especially like dude sed in a simic grafting deck you can put so many counters on ur creatures its not funny especially when the deck get going it will be pretty much unstoppable b/c ur creatures can get so big, plus thers so many cards to move counters and even whenever you do that they double. then the vigean hydropons the come into play with 5 +1 +1 counters on it and it cant block or attack so those are feeders to ur other grafters and those counters double and again when using the abilites of creatures to mov counters will double the counters that are already doubled so basically with this card theres endless possiblities but this card is mainly meant for a token deck b/c mah friend has a god token deck that is pretty much unstoppable by like the 3rd turn depending on the draw i remember at one point he had like 2500 life that is the most insane stuff ever!!!!!

As everyone knows, this card is amazing in a spore deck... The great thing about having so many saprolings and spore counters is the large amount of possibilities... Which can all be crammed into one deck!

Get some Theylon of Havenwoods into play to make a deck filled with powerful creatures.

Get Life and Limb to have plenty of mana at your disposal... Hurricane? X mana to target player? Instant death.

Get a rich variation of fungus creatures for various effects. You can make a life deck, a pump-up deck, a destroy deck...

The great thing is that you can get all of these possibilities crammed into one crazy-flexible deck. I suggest Green-White-Black.

With Time Spiral Fun with Fungus deck and the Sporaloth Anciet from the recently resleased Future Site decks your deck can go into overdrive. Because if lets say you have a Thallid out and 2 Sporesower Thallids out (which lets you put an additional spore counter on each fungus you control during your upkeep thats 3, with Doubling Seasons you get 6. on just that 1 Thallid and with Sporaloth Ancient it only costs 2 counters to generate a saproling. Plus if you have Thelonite Hermit all saproling creatures get +1/+1 so you would be getting a possible 3 2/2 creatures every upkeep and just think if you had 4 Sporesower Thallids out that would normally be 5 counters every upkeep but with this card it would be 10 and Then with Talon of Haven would out which makes every spore counter a +1/+1 your 1/1 Thallid would become a 11/11.

A great card to be sure, but anyone who talks of it giving you 8 life and 4 1/1's through the Hondens of Cleansing Fire and Life's Web is only half right. It doesn't double everything, just counters coming into play. You'd only gain 4 life, 2 for each Honden, but you would get 4 1/1's instead of 2 through the season. As for the Scion, he doensn't get counters, he just get's a state based pump effect that continuously looks at the number of creatures you control. So he'd get +4/+4 from the newly created spirits not +8/+8, which is still a rather nice pump being added a turn.

it's great in most aspects, however if you're playing a wither deck it kind of screws you over(ex blowfly infestation vs tokens, incremental blight would be beefed up to placing 2, 4 and 6 -1/-1 counters) any creature with wither basically has double attack vs creatures, however i haven't seen many wither decks, all in all it's a great card though

The true ability of this card rotates on mirriodin and ravinca block. Nothing is better than all your modular creatures coming out and being titanic or slowly getting that way. In saporling production, this is horrible becuase saps aren't that easy to get out without over costed and expensive or complicated cards. But if you us a simic deck mixed with a mycosnyth ( i know i mispelled probably) and some modular creatures you have a great deal of power in your hands. Good all around almost.

I have this in a Kamigawa snake deck with Orochi Hatchery. It reduces it from XX to X, doubling the counters. THEN, it doubles the tokens it puts into play. That's right... 4 for 1. With two in play, it's 16 for 1. NICE!

A card for combo players to drool over and nothing more, but powerful enough that it may not need to be more. There are so many cards that Doubling Season is "great with", the problem being that it does nothing by itself and is too expensive to be played on an early building turn.

Think of Doubling Season as green's version of Megrim.
