This card is great for it's adaptability. If you need blockers, or need more creatures to swarm your enemy, Hunting Triad is decent, and if you need your creatures to win in combat, Hunting Triad is awesome!
Think about it. Those Elf creature tokens probably aren't 1/1 when you play them. You've most likely got a Perfect or an Archdruid on the battlefield when you play this, and that's when things start to get really potent.

For that cost, you're better off playing this card for it's reinforce ability. If you want elf tokens, try Gilt Leaf Ambush instead.
